New Mobile Site: Feedback Thread

Phone: Samsung S3 mini

The fixed bar at the top of the page is not big enough to have the search, model jump and user functions so they spill over onto the next line which makes them floating above the rest of the page.

It certainly looks a lot more like the desktop site so well done! :)

It does not scale down very well on my screen, either in portrait or landscape modes. I have to flick left and right to read sentences whereas on the old mobile site the paragraph was readable without flicking.

Did as you said and sure enough I'm on the new mobile site.

It looks great on my phone! It has scaled well and everything is readable without scrolling left and right. The only annoyance is my phone asks me if I want to open any links I click on in the mobile site or on the app - not sure this is something you can fix on the site as it sounds more like an issue with my phone.

Otherwise nice job!

Yeah that's an android issue, I'm not sure I can do anything about that.

On mine, it only happens if I use "internet", if I use chrome it's ok.

I've had a quick look through. Looking well! Although it does take a bit longer to load than the old mobile site.

I'm on a Sony Xperia Z3 btw.

Nokia 920. First impressions are that it's a big improvement over the old mobile site, which I gave up using as it was missing bits from the full site. Text renders very nicely and page fit & rotate work without fault. Post edit is a bit slow to respond to a prod pf the icon.

I like the big 'go to first unread post' buttons - much better than those on the full site when viewed on a phone. Same goes for the Thanks, Quote, Like buttons. Quick reply box font & text are a bit light & hard to read on my phone. Pages load a bit slowly, but not terrible. The Menu & Search icons at top left & right don't seem to do anything, and the top section telling me who I am (which I think I can figure out for myself :) ) and shortcuts takes up too much space.

All that said, I'm tempted to switch to this mobile site from the full one when on my phone. ?

That sounds like a JavaScript issue. That menu bar should all be hidden unless yippy swipe right.

I'll investigate

re: loading / menu

Do you need to use window.load vs document.ready for the slideout menu. window.load make it seems very slow / clunky when loading the page.

The menu not being hidden for previous poster ould be to do with the funky cross browser window.load stuff also.

That would be cleaner, but would require jQuery. Trying to keep everything lightweight and non reliant on external libraries.

Unless you know another work around? I'm not the best at js :)

All looks fine and works well on a Motorola Moto G Titan
