New Mobile Site: Feedback Thread

Working fine here on WP 8.1. Tap the three bars, they dim & the whole page slides to the right (on its own) to expose a menu that includes log in. Agreed though - it took me quite a while to twig how to log on. Should be on the 'front page', especially if you're a new user?

Given up on it it won't work on my mates phone either?, we can't log in to the mobile site.
I've tried in settings for desktop but it defaults to mobile.
All was working fine the other day!

All i have at the top of the page is the fiat forum logo in the center the search on the right and 3 strips on the left that dim when pressed but do nothing.
i'm running windows 8.1 mobile
I have that same issue sometimes, I usually press it several times and eventually it will work. Top tip keep yourself signed in so you wont have to press it again. I'm on WP 8.1 also and I think it is an issue with the browser rather than the design of the mobile site.

Hi, tried to access the site on an iphone 3 GS. When I click the 'biscuit' (3 line bar menu) the menu appears transparently but I am unable to sign in. Although I'm not sure if this is a phone problem as I can only update to IOS 6.

Hope this helps.

I'd be really sad to see the app go. I really prefer it, think its a great little app.

All the best,
M
Well, I would like feedback on what you find useful with it - maybe I can implement that into the mobile site.

There are only 2 thinks which I can see it is better than the site on:

1) Push notifications (which admittedly is very very useful). The solutions to that are either integrate with a current system such as Pushover or Pushbullet - which is the easiest, or the second would be to code a companion app which is purely to receive updates.

2) "Share to Thread" - Although the current app can't do this, if we were to code a new one, you could click a photo in your phone gallery, then share it directly to a new thread.

Apart from that, what else is missing? :D

Yes, so I can confirm the fix for it not working on windows phone is to clear the cache (delete browsing history - no need to delete passwords just the other stuff...cookies and so on :D)

But might not work if you still have the page loaded or browser open so worth just closing that down then going into the internet explorer settings and selecting "delete history"

Now I can log in using the menu :slayer: woop woop and so on.

That's interesting. Had you ever used the mobile site before?

There was a very old version of the JS that did have issues, but that was updated quite some time ago!

Working on the search now.

Hi Ben,

Yes so I might have just not cleared my cache for a while, because I went on the mobile site version a little while ago but then discovered it didn't login. I went back to the settings and selected the preference as the web version but it didn't update and continued to open in the mobile version of the site...being lazy I just carried on without being able to log in (incognito ) I was being a bit dumb I guess, but seems you have to clear the cache to switch between the mobile version and the web version (unless I missed a link / button on the website but I did try).

One more thing though. I can't get into the forum menu after I have logged in it seems. Probably don't need to that often though.
And also as it turns out if you clear the browsing history it deletes the password for FF as well so I have to login again  Is that a clue? Maybe password stuff isn't in the normal password directory stuff area? You can probably tell this isn't my area of expertise...but maybe something useful I can blab about. Hope you get to the bottom of it anyway and thanks for all your work on the forum as usual! (y)

It's not that any functionality is missing but I find the app much easier to navigate on my small screen on a moving bus (or anywhere really). In the app it's almost impossible to select the wrong thing, just click on the desired thread. In a browser a typical screen might contain around 20 hyperlinks all very close to each other. Get the wrong one and you've got to wait for it to load, go back and try again. Maybe I've just got fat fingers.

Like I said, no functionality missing from the web pages, it's just a usability thing for me on a small screen.

Keep up the good work,
M

No problems at all with either the app, or the full site on my Samsung Galaxy Note 3, on Giffgaff.........................always works perfectly, no matter which format I use.

Cheers Qube O.

Search done. Nothing new to see, just searches within the current forum if in one.

If on the main page, will search everything.

Search link in the side menu will also search everything.

Ben - might be worth putting some words to that effect on the search page itself. Otherwise, only those following this thread will know that's the way it works.
