Not using a lead additive and to be honest when I open the rear sliding windows the fume problems seem to disappear

You should not get exhaust fumes inside.
First, check the exhaust from engine all the way to the tailpipe for any leaks, however small.
If that's all ok, now check the rear door seal. A bit of talc on the seal, then close the door until it just touches, and any gaps should be visible. Fix any gaps with with either a new seal, or dress the seal mounting flange to even it up.

As any vehicle pushes through the air, it creates a vacuum behind it, and if the rear door seal allows exhaust in, opening the front windows will make it worse, by drawing it forward as air is drawn out of the front windows. The opposite of what you might expect.
