General Reversing beep problem

As I started my three month old Popstar 1.6, and went to reverse, the usual beep sounded from the reversing sensors.....single beeps then one continuous sound. Trouble was, the single note stayed on when I engaged first gear and continued to sound as I drove away. Even after stopping the car and turning the engine off the long note continued. I had to get to work so kept driving with the noise still sounding when after about five minutes it eventually stopped. Any idea s ?

Could be a sticking reverse sensor switch.

Next time it does it get out of the car and see if the reversing light is on as well.

I'd check sensors are clean, could be road dirt or muck clogging them?
