Waiting for my Lounge to be built. ETA 12 weeks from May 5th.

I've a couple of questions.

1) The refrigerated glove box is removed on all models now right?

2) Should I have ordered a space saver wheel? I read the forum and see mentions of the wheel eating space into the boot.

3) The Satnav, in the car I test drove the speaker on the drivers side was the only one giving directions. Is this a feature or a setting?

4) Satnav again, is it possible to get the directions to appear on the screen in front of the driver.

Hurry up Fiat factory! :D

2). Kinda, it has a platform that can be lowered when the wheel isn't there. It does offer a fair bit more space when the wheel isn't there.

3) Only option, at least on mine.

4) Yes, there is that option for it to pop up close to the instruction, or you can select it as a constant option.

2017 170 4x4 here - just a few weeks old.

No chilled glove box and was not mentioned as an option when I ordered.

I'd echo Pedrolami's responses, they all seem accurate in my experience.

Also my car has a spacesaver (think it's an option only now). You do get a lot more space by taking it and the polystyrene tool holder out and using a gel pack, which I have done. However for holidays and very long trips where I'm staying away from home I sacrifice a bit of space and put it back in as I figure it keeps me mobile better than a gel pack... no fun sitting at roadside on a French mountain hoping for a breakdown truck.
You can get a pack for about £30 so best of both worlds for minimal outlay.

I must have the worst of both worlds. I have a spacesaver tyre and an adjustable floor but can only use he upper setting due to the presence of the spacesaver tyre.

Was there an option of run flats or puncture foam at some point? I definitely can't use the lower level and it's definitely a spacesaver tyre

Hi Alan, even with the space saver you should be able to drop the adjustable floor down at least one notch so that it's not flush with the boot hatch/door lip to give some extra space.

My car also came with a 'carpet' type cover with a 500x logo on it so that I can completely remove the hard adjustable shelf and lay it flush over the wheel well/gel pack well to get full use of the boot cavity.

There have been a couple of queries about the chilled glovebox deletion recently. Believe me - you aren't missing out! It's rubbish on the 500X.

I had one on an 05 plate Focus and it was miles better.

I find as long as the aircon is set to about 16-17 and on recircle it works ok.A bottle of water or couple of kit kats stay quite cold but don't expect ice cold! Generally the aircon on the 500x is not brilliant if I'm honest. I had aircon on a Ford Probe and a Ford Cougar and both used to freeze the bottom of the windscreen!

The system won't work with automatic aircon because it controls the temperature in part by using fan speed. Slow the fan down and it won't get enough puff in the glovebox. The temperature itself shouldn't affect the temperature of the glovebox though as they bypass the heating matrix. So in theory, if you have the aircon on in winter to keep the windows clear, the glovebox should still get cold.

The main problem is that even on full speed, you just don't get enough airflow in the glovebox to make any real difference to its temperature.

My Focus for example, from memory, had 2 vents in there. And they'd open a hole that is bigger than a biro. 20-30 minutes on the road and your water was near ice cold! Sadly, not with the 500X though.

That is quick!
Sadly, I won't be driving my new Pop Star in cappuccino beige this morning, as hoped. It was ordered 11 weeks ago and I was due to collect after work yesterday when I got a call mid morning to say that an automatic had been ordered instead of a manual! ☹️ No new car for me!

In my car, I can hear the directions from both sides of the car,

except when I'm on the phone, then the audio splits and the phone call audio plays from the passenger side, while the directions play from the driver's side.

nice little feature!

I moved from Panda 4x4 to 500x purely for the auto option !!

I got the auto too. More economical than the equivalent manual and you could negotiate a discount cos it's the wrong car

Too late I suppose, but I'd have taken the auto as well. It's a good one, and much easier to drive in traffic. You could have had a greater discount, maybe, and the resale price would have been stronger.
