I've had a couple of software updates but the Settings Menu has never changed, except for TomTom Live

I have a 2016 auto and have the auto brake option, I assume its on them all, wasn't keen on the electronic brake until I set it to auto, now keep forgetting it on our other car. The stop/start is just annoying, turned it off

Same here...

That's how it works, comes on when you switch off or put in park if auto then auto releases when you pull away. Hill start works when on a slope and you start to pull away. When stopped on a hill I keep my foot on the brake then when it's time to move off, pull away and car does not roll back giving you about 2secs to move off.

Curiouser and curiouser. Double checked today and definitely no Settings item to turn it on or off. Handbrake goes ON automatically when put into Park. Does not Auto Off when pulling away, requires manual input every time.

I give up [emoji60]

Sounds very odd.Have you tried using the settings screen with ignition switched on but engine off?

Yep, done that. It's going back to the dealer next month to investigate a multitude of warnings. Hopefully they'll reflash the ECU or find a fault

Looking at the manual it reads as if the auto function release only applies to the manual version? IMG_2821.JPG

Humble apologies, gave the loud pedal a bootful this morning and the handbrake released automatically. When handbrake and hillstart assist both working together it takes a bit more oomph to overcome it.

My mistake

I thought it was strange! That's the trouble with new cars....it takes a while to get used to all the advances.I would still prefer a normal handbrake and less electric connected gizmos etc....I sound like my dad now.[emoji23]

I know exactly what you mean [emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23][emoji23]

Mine doesn't always release but its often something I'm not doing right. Often find myself holding up traffic at the lights in a state of confusion

Just forget all about the handbrake and just pull away normally.....

Yeah, the automatic handbrake release is pretty moody sometimes. Mine goes in phases where a few times it won't release on the first time and then it's fine for a long while after.

The way I find easiest to get it to release most reliably is lift the clutch without the accelerator. Then when the car takes the strain and the brake releases, you phase in some accelerator pedal.
