My first time using this kind of transmission. My other autos were old technology.

When in a higher gear - 6th or 7th etc on a fast dual carriageway and approaching a roundabout I come off the accelerator but when I brake it feels like rather than freewheeling / acting under engine braking, it seems to still be still getting a bit of throttle and I am braking against that little bit of power ?

Its not a great deal and barely noticeable unless you come off the accelerator late but it definately feels different to previous autos.

The demo ( a few months old with 4k ) that I test drove did not feel like this so maybe the transmission "settles in" ?

Also, in case its related - the accelerator pedal seems stiffer than I have had before - more pressure is needed to depress it.

Any thoughts ?

Hi
I've had my 500X 2lt auto for 12 months and covered about 9000 miles. I've found the auto to be smooth. Unlike other auto's I've owned they is no engine braking with the Fiat. Even if I change down manually. However there is no feeling of the engine still driving. Definitely more like freewheeling.

I've driven mine for about 15,000 miles now and I find that engine braking depends a lot on your driving still at the time and cannot be relied upon.

And yes, the throttle pedal does need a moderate amount of pressure.
