I'm not sure if this is off-topic or not, but you guys might have noticed that I've been pondering over the 500X for a while now - and it'll be a while yet until I get myself a new set of wheels, but I like to start procrastinating over a decision of getting of new car early.

I was pretty much all set on getting a 500X until I saw a fully-loaded (and bright yellow) Jeep Renegade a few days ago and it quite literally took my breath away. I'd never paid them much attention until now, but all of a sudden I'm loving the boxy shape and kooky styling and now I'm back to square one as I think there's a possibility that I might now prefer the Renegade!

My question is - have any of you test-driven both the 500X and the Renegade? Since both cars are ostensibly identical beneath the skin, are they similar to drive? And another question for the admins - are there plans to add a Jeep/Chrysler section to the forum, since they're part of the same family now?

Yes I've driven Renegades in the UK and did about 2000 miles in Spain in one. Drive very similar, FIAT a bit less roll and slightly firmer and I think a fraction lower, but that might just be the seat position. Both very nice to drive, I would actually have preferred my Cross Plus with the Jeeps smaller alloys and thicker profile tyres. Liked them both, just preferred the FIAT styling. The boxy shape of the renegade does mean the boot and rear of the cabin has more space than the 500 with seats down. Liked them both. Remember... No car ever looked good in yellow ?

Oh Yellow.......

Actually I/we have owned two yellow (broom or otherwise) those being a Punto HGT and Coupe 20V.

In both cases they "worked" for us and many others so I'm not going to knock yellow.

Often yellow might be considered to be a "sporty" colour and on a Punto HGT or Coupe 20V is probably OK.

When we get into 500X/Renegade vehicles that offer/sell a little road/off road performance then sneaking into the country (possibly off road) to get closer to nature your are probably going to be a little or "obvious" / "exposed" / commented on in yellow.

Yellow is not a hopeless case just a personal choice :)

Have you seen the latest Fiat 500 matt green paint job. You can park this vehicle and colour in your back garden and won't locate your car till you press the remote and the indicators blink. Add some bird poo and fallen tree leaves and you are gone. Pure stealth mode :)

I haven't done a comparison but I would have thought that the Renegade would be dearer to run just due to its shape

But looking on the bright side (literally), if I should ever get stuck half-way up a mountain in my gloriously yellow Panda Cross, the rescue team will be able to spot me, even in the poorest light conditions (y)

Oh, and just like my much-missed yellow 2CV, I'll always be able to find it in a car park!

I like yellow. Just on other people's cars. I think my chakras would get over-energised if I sat in one.

No, this thing you have about yellow is just blocking energy. Embrace the yellow side, and let your energy flow freely! :D (y)

Yellows! Yellows!

I'd have to play it safe - the most outrageous choice I would go for - the Desert Hawk bicolour paint they've got on the Jeep website.

I also saw a night hawk at the dealer in matt paint - looked amazing. Probably way above my budget though... [emoji20]

Haha, some brilliant replies ? re Matt paint on cars... see my previous comments... No car ever looked good in this ?
