Hello all fellow 500X owners.

I have never owned a Fiat before. My last car got stolen and i was given a 500X as a rental. loved the drive so much i bought one.

Second hand i bought a 500X 1.6 MultiJet 4x2. Everything was fine on initial purchase but then noticed very little problems.

1. Volume control does not work on the back of the steering wheel, neither did the other buttons on the back ( can only assume station changer). Plus the phone buttons on the front of the steering wheel dont work, but the speed limiter and cruise control do work.

2. Not sure what radio i have but looking at other forums and there description and photoes of it i have come to the conclusion that i have a 5" screen one no DAB. it has TRIP button not NAV (I know i dont have Nav). but not sure if i have any UConnect Live as i cant seem to get anything to say it has it. although all sites i have visited imply that i shoud have it.

3. Odo flashing. I know what problem this is (Proxey adjustment needed) but not sure if this is the problem causing the above issues.

Any advice would be much apprieciated.

I am fairly new to Fiats myself and have a 500X DCT fited with a 6.5 inch UConnect which has all the current services available.

From my limited experience I doubt very much if you have access to any of the live services. Apparently there have been several versions of UConnect available, even in the same screen size. To make the phone work it has to paired to the car system and that is how the live services are accessed on the UConnect, tho' if you don't have NAV available you don't need the live services any way.

If you look through the various postings on this site you will see a lot of comments on the various systems and that may help you.

If the car is a 15 or an early 65 plate (Sept/Oct 2015), chances are it won't have UConnect Live. I believe Live services were introduced in late 2015 but there'll have been a few cars kicking about with the old software for a while after I'd imagine.

The odo flashes when something electronic isn't functioning correctly, so I'd imagine this is related to the buttons on the steering wheel not working. I'd get the proxy alignment done and see if that rectifies the buttons before doing anything else.

Confirm.

Generally speaking a flashing odometer is displayed when one or more of the car's body computer registered nodes have been removed or very badly malfunctioned so as to not communicate with the body computer.

The Proxi Alignment (with MultiECUScan / other) is the first step to take next or visit your Fiat dealer.

Having said this as you have just bought the car I would be going directly back to the seller armed with the information here.

Sound like you have the very basic radio setup but even with that system the rear steering wheel controls for volume should work.

I have an early 2015(May) popstar model with extras including the 6.5 Uconnect satnav unit, all live services work currently but as everyone knows with a Fiat that could change

Thanks guys. I have a friend who specialises in Italian cars and said he could sort proxy out for £30 but not sure if it would void warranty. It is a genuine approved garage but not directly associated with Fiat as it does all Italian cars.

hopefully will also sort other issues out at the same time.

Bought car from a car supermarket 40 miles away so difficult to just nip back but defo give them a ring. And im sure we all know what they can be like.:bang:

bit disappointed no ;live but not essential so can live with that.

I will let you know how i get on.

How old is your car? You should be aware that the Fiat manufacturer's warranty is only two years, the third year is a less comprehensive dealer network warranty, which may not cover things such as the infotainment system. If it is less than 2 years old I would contact a Fiat dealer ASAP.

The third year warranty is the same as the first two years! IMG_2608.JPG
