Hi all I've a 2015 2L plus cross and wanting to fit a detachable towbar. Can anyone recommend a good reasonably priced towbar? Looking to fit this myself so has anyone done the same and hit any snags?
Thanks in advance for any reply.

I have a fixed Swan Neck which is perfect for me. I believe it is also available as a detachable and that should fit the bill for you

I've done this myself and used the Brink 5995 towbar.

See https://www.fiatforum.com/500x/428664-500x-cross-plus-towbar-fitting.html

Also NOTE the Multiplexed later post.

Since my installation I've not attempted to rectify the multiplexed issue.

What this means is that:

1) when you turn sidelights on the trailer/caravan sidelights come on
2) when you press the brake pedal the trailer/caravan brake lights come on AS DO the sidelights

Technically/legally here in the UK this is not an issue. I think it is actually a nice effect and when you press the brake pedal not only do your trailer/caravan lights come on but also the tail lights and also any high level corner lights as well.

For oncoming vehicles they will see your caravan/front facing white lights turn on but again this is not an issue.

When towing I tend to have sidelights and even headlamps turned on and in this condition there is no difference of operation.

If it's any use, I have a Thule removable towbar for a Grande Punto , which might possibly be able to be modified to fit with a bit of drilling and sawing . It's new and unused ,but now surplus to requirements. Gratis for collection from Teesside. I'm under orders to get rid of it out of the dining room where its been for the past 6 years !

Thanks for the offer. I'm sure if you post it on the Punto site someone would take it off your hands.
Regards
Ed

Not sure where you're based, but PF Jones are a specialist with a mobile team as well. They're fitting a Brink detachable Swan Neck including a vehicle specific loom (so that the warranty isn't void) for £470. Very knowledgeable specialists and helpful too.
