Around 6 years ago I had my 1.9 JTM Alfa Diesel (Fiat owners will be familiar with this unit) remapped from 150 BHP to c 200BHP, not really for the power increase but to provide a smoother power delivery and believe it or not better economy.

Whilst browsing 500X reviews, I have come across US ones where the 1.4 Mulitair is quoted at 160BHP, rather than our 140 BHP.

I recognise any remapping would invalidate the warranty and results are never as good on a petrol compared to diesel but wonder if anyone has contemplated this upgrade? I suspect for Fiat to offer the 160 BHP to the US market all they have done is a slightly more aggressive map anyway?

I find there is a little flat spot after one changes gear before the power picks up again and wonder if a remap would cure this?

You are quite correct in assuming Fiat offers its 1.4L MultiAir in various states of tune. In Australia, the 500X Pop and Pop Star come with the 103kW / 140BHP version while the Lounge and Cross Plus are fitted with the 125kW / 168BHP version.
