Well I collected the new car on Tuesday and so far I'm very impressed. Went for the 1.4 (170) AWD Automatic. Done about 500 miles and it seems both refined and sporty enough when it needs to be.

Only a couple of minor niggles at the moment, one is the 'follow me home' light function doesn't appear to work and the other is extremely frustrating which is I can't find a way to replace the km/h on the top left of the LCD display with mph.

Very nice! Think with the follow me home you leave the lights on when you pull up turn car off lock car and light should be on! To swap km to mph it is in the menu some where! Not 100% sure how to do it! But I had same issues but wife sorted it out!

Follow me time /on off settings are adjusted in the menu settings, accessed via the radio/uconnect system.

Yes, thanks for the reply, I've adjusted the settings to make sure it's turned on for the longest time but it still doesn't seem to work?

If it works like on other Fiats, You need to pull the light stalk towards You (like flashing) before You leave the car (engine off).
On my old Bravo, Stilo and Punto each pull added 30 sec. to the time, but that may be moved to the settings menu.
I was partly right. Read below :)

It's described in the manual on page 24:
HEADLIGHTS OFF TIMER
(Follow me home)
Activation
With headlights on, bring the ignition
device to STOP.
Within 2 minutes, rotate the light switch
nut to O: the timing set previously
through the Menu (0, 30, 60, up to 90
seconds) starts.
Deactivation
This function is deactivated by
switching on the headlights, the side
lights or bringing the ignition device to
MAR.
"Follow me home" function
interaction with system
UconnectTM system
If on the menu Uconnect™ the timer is
set to 0 seconds it is possible, using
the high beam lever, to turn on the
lights for a pre-set time of 30 seconds.
It is possible to activate the lights 7
times up to a maximum of 210
seconds.
If, however, a timing (of 30 or 60
seconds, for example) has been set
through the "Settings" menu of
Uconnect™, each time the engine is
switched off, the "Follow me home"
function will be activated for the
duration of that timing (you will not be
able to change it using the light switch),
only if the ring nut A fig. 29 is rotated
to position O.

That's great thank you. Is it just me or does it seem unnecessarily complicated? :)

The "old" method is easy (which Fiat introduced on the Punto II back in 1999).
Just pull the light stalk a few times (30 seconds of time with each pull), just after you switch off the engine.
The new method, where you set the time through the uconnect is more complicated, you have to set a time beforehand and then you need to rotate the light switch nut to "O".

Just set it to 0 (zero) second in uconnect and pull the stalk whenever you need to use it.

You can't change Kmh on the left of the lcd panel. You can only change centre and right. Fiat have made it like this, no idea why?

It's madness out of I'm guessing 20 screens only one shows the speed in mph as selected from the menu and every other screen shows kmph which is totally useless in the UK!?! Typical Fiat, a great car but with such ridiculous limitations. ImageUploadedByFIAT Forum1452817560.684248.jpg

How do you find the auto box?
I've been driving a BMW with an auto and really liked it, but I've heard stories about some autos being slow to kick down or hold on to a gear for too long, so I'd be interested in your views on just how good it is.

Also what sort of mpg are you getting out of the 170 motor?
I was originally looking at the 140hp engine, but would like something with a bit more urge. I'm concerned there is a big hit on fuel consumption.

I must admit I'd heard various grumblings about the gearbox and had previously been used to an Audi auto (which was excellent) so I insisted on a test drive on the auto before placing the order to check it suited me.

So far I haven't been disappointed, the gearbox is very smooth and always appears to be in the right gear for me. I do make use of the sport function if I really want to get things moving but I used to do that on the Audi as well.

So far as I can tell, this is the exact same gearbox as installed in the Range Rover Evoque all be it with the software tweaked for the 1.4 engine and have no complaints so far. (y)

If there is a downside it's the fuel consumption. I drive approximately 10miles twisty country roads, 30miles dual carriageway and about 10miles busy city traffic for my morning commute and for the first 700 miles of ownership have averaged about 32mpg on that journey.
