Hi, I have bought a new 500x lounge two months ago and I am not using the passive entry to lock/unlock the doors. So I always lock and unlock the car by pushing the button on the telecontrol. I have also activated the salutation where the yellow cornering lights blink when locking or unlocking the car.

However, I recently noticed that sometimes yellow cornering lights don't blink when locking the car. During these cases, when I press the openning button in the handle of the boot, boot opens althugh the car is locked! Sometimes after the boot is openned this way, yellow lights stay open and I have to take the battery off in order to reboot the system.

I am very worried about all this, as I am feeling that my car can't trully lock the boot ot at least I don't konw what is happening!

Any ideas are trully welcomed. thnaks in advance.

Stelio,

I've noticed something slightly different, but maybe it is related. I always lock my car by pressing the lock button on the door handle (the key is always in my pocket, too lazy to take it out). But, 1 time out of 10, the car does not lock.

I noticed this, because I've also enabled the blinkers to turn on when the car locks, and I usually hear the locking mechanism. So several times I found out that the blinkers didn't blink and I never heard the locking sound. If I try to open the rear doors or boot, they all open, which is very clear that the car never locks in those rare cases.

Now, when I press the lock button on the door handle, I ALWAYS wait and watch for the blinkers, to make sure the car is locked.

I've talked to a few other owners, apparently it is a known problem with the rolling code transmitter, which sometimes does not communicate properly between the car and the key fob.

Maybe the same applies in your case, even when you lock with the key button?

This problem occurred after my car went in to have a failed engine mount replaced. The dealership updated the software for me so I think it must be a bug in the latest version. I will check which software version I have and post here asap.

I also now notice that if I use the passive entry system on locking the deadlocks are set as before I needed to use both passive and hand set to set them.

First of all many thanks for your answers.

After a lot of testing I almost have concluded that it's a minor bug, meaning that the problem of boot opening occurs only when the key is close to the car. So practically there is no case when you lock the car and leave, somebody else to be able to open your boot.

However, I would like Fiat to see our conversation and comments here and fix the bug with an update in car software.

About the yellow flash lights blinking or not during locking/unlocking the car, it is also a minor bug. In my car at least even if they don't blink sometimes when locking/unlocking the car, doors lock/unlock and I can hear their sound doing so.

Hello there my lights come on when I open the car but don't when I close it can you tell me how you enabled the car to do this as I would rather have a visual indication as well as listening for the car to lock itself.

Hi

I have the same problem (without keyless enter). Sometimes my car flashes the indicators when locked and sometimes it doesn't.

I have no idea as to why it sometimes flashes and then others does not. Even when I then immediately unlock the car and then relock (to double check) I have no flashing lights (either on unlocking and locking).

Very strange indeed!
