In not sure they are similar enough, it's a shared platform so similar suspension parts engines gearboxes etc but the car it's self is very different

I agree. The basic platform's the same but according to this [ame="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/GM_Fiat_Small_platform"]GM Fiat Small platform - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia@@AMEPARAM@@<title>GM Fiat Small platform - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia</title>@@AMEPARAM@@GM Fiat Small platform[/ame] the platform was altered for the 500L and then again to accommodate the 4WD versions of the 500X & Renegade. The climate control switchgear is lifted from the Alfa Giulietta & 500L and engines & transmissions are shared with several models including the Giulietta & Cherokee (2.0 Multijet), MiTo & 500L (1.6 Multijet), Bravo & MiTo (1.4 MultiAir 140), MiTo & Giulietta (TCT gearbox) & Cherokee (9 speed Auto).

One of the few models it shares parts with is the little 500!

Took the dogs for a walk tonight, went past the fiat dealership just down the road.... And guess what........

Another beige one !!????

Hearing Aid Beige! Love it! It actually looks alright there :-/

Saw my first one today out in the wold, so to speak.

Really liked the look of it and going to go against the flow a bit and say I quite liked the pastel beige colour. Wouldn't be my choice (that would be metallic bronze) but still thought it looked pretty good.

I think it's quite a desirable car, not necessarily better than any of the competition but just more desirable if that makes sense.

I've been in the dealership today as my 500S was in for an issue, and found myself checking out an Shiny black 500X. It was actually really nice, but my dealer friend told me to ignore it as its the over priced 4x4 automatic (not city) 27k one, and the only reason they don't have any city models in the showroom is because they sell to quickly and are never around long enough.

His concern was people walking in, seeing the price, and walking back out again without finding out about the 17k City version. I can see his point I guess, as I wouldn't want to pay that much for one.

What a load of tosh!!

Dealers aren't interested in selling the cars in the showroom, on the contrary they keep the showroom cars purely to sell new cars on order to the people who walk in.

It's no different to buying a sofa, you don't find the one you want in the show room and they pack it up and deliver it to your house, that's a complete false economy for any sales showroom

Well I beg to differ but am also willing to be corrected.

Fiat dealers generally have the following rules *applied* to them

1) Initially and periodically they get given/dictated as to what models they must have on display and available for test driving

2) These models (in 1) plus any other models the dealer wishes to have are supplied at a manufacturer/dealer purchase price but that price does NOT have to be paid immediately.

3) Given 2) the dealer has a limited period of time to sell/register those supplied cars before they are required to pay for them.

4) Once the "period" has expired the dealer has to pay Fiat the due funds

5) If a dealer meets their quota they get better prices/breaks on the next batch of cars

6) All the above can mean that a dealer can sell a car at COST price to them (plus workshop PDI fees) if that sale makes their quota. They loose nothing and the lucky punter gains.

Finally

7) Sitting on a showroom model beyond it's "pay up now" date is pure loss to the dealer. By this point in time new "required" display/test vehicles will have potentially been dictated by Fiat.

8) Why do you think dealers sell pre-registered cars at discount prices.

Regardless of all the above any decently run company will ensure stock turnover and movement. Who wants a year old produced car on their books after having paid for it when they could have a nice new one free for a month or two.

Summary: Fiat dealers do turn over showroom stock as soon as they can and often at discounted prices. To do otherwise would be financially dumb!

As for stock in the pipeline that is a dealers decision. Some gamble and are prepared to potentially pay for cars they can't sell before the "due pay Fiat date" others prefer to run with Fiat's required showing and then place an order for confirmed customer order.

Saw my first one in the flesh today. Somebody in our village has bought one. It's in that 'hearing aid beige' colour but it actually doesn't look too bad. It wouldn't be my choice of colour but it doesn't look too horrendous in the flesh IMHO.

Saw one 'on the move' last week on the A20 in France. Tow bar and rear bike carrier fitted, French registration, oh and again in that 'hearing aid' beige colour.

It actually looks OK I think.

Sure does look good while driving down the road :)

Hi, I walked into my local dealer for a test drive a week last Sunday and they just happened to have put a 500x of the exact spec I wanted into the showroom the day before, so I drove off with it last Wednesday! I'm not sure how usual that is but they DO sell you showroom models.

If it's a new car out they want them on the roads asap to generate interest, making you wait 16 weeks for delivery doesn't do that.

Selling your promotional items doesn't make a huge amount of sense but one on the road will be seen by many many more people than one in the showroom. Few years ago Peugeot sold my dad a showroom 307 because he didn't care about waiting for the 51 plate to come and they could get a car out in "the wild" quickly. Does work as well people did stop him to ask what it was and have a look.

In case your wondering contrary to popular opinion it was a reliable car maybe we got lucky!

Been waiting 8 weeks still have no delivery date

These retards don't care if the cars are there or not

I hope they see this as well fed up with no f@@king updates

I beat that 12 weeks now, No bulid date. I raised a complaint with Fiat over a week ago, no response.
This is a joke, clearly they don't want my cash!

I've still seen a grand total of two 500X's on the road (one yellow, one beige). However Fiat UKs Facebook page has quite a few happy owners who've taken delivery, so unless both of you have ordered the Winter Pack, I can't see what's going wrong.

Obviously it'd be helpful if Fiat bothered to get back to you regarding your complaint, but as they haven't, why not 'have a word' with them on their Facebook page - companies tend to be hotter on responding when they know the World is watching them! ;)
