Great, another euro box clone, just what the car world needs (n)

I bought a 500 because it was so different to all the other euro boxes so I won't be queuing up for one of those. :nono:

Looks a lot better proportioned than the 500L, but I still think it will lose out to Renaults Captur in the style stakes. Still looks far less ugly than the countryman though, although I could stand back and admire the aesthetics of a pool of vomit easier than that travesty of a mini.

I don't the chrome accent they keep sticking on the front. It spoils the 500L, which is badly proportioned anyway, and it does this no favours either.

I think the Captur, unless in plain white, tends to look like a circus clown, but I'll bet Fiat will attempt to price this 'upmarket', and so it will fid it hard to compete. Don't forget, it will have the new Honda Vagazzle to compete with too and that looks interestig.

I really can't see it giving the countryman a run for its money, people who buy the mini buy bmws and VWs Audis etc I can't see them suddenly buying a soft roader that look a tiny bit like a fiat 500

The countryman is available with 4wd and has a rally and Motorsport pedigree

Personally from those pictures it looks almost like a punto replacement its a small 4 door hatch and in that respect I kinda like it but I don't think it works as part of a 500 family all they are doing is taking away from the 500 by diluting the concept of the original 500

This is supposed to be 4wd too.

Fiat pulled it off with the A500 so I think it will give the Countryman a run. I know so many Abarthisti that replaced the Mini with A500 purely because Mini's are so common and the Fiat heritage hardly seemed an issue for most.

The Countryman isn't that big and the platform is roughly Punto sized anyway.

It's been designed in part for a Chrysler version so I can't see it being smaller than Countryman.

Look in the Autocar news pages and you will see that a Jeep variant will be spun off this - probably the Jeep will be more off road orientated - would make more sense for me where I live whenever i get round to looking for a replacement for my 1987 Panda 4x4 (although I suspect that will be another Panda).
