Unhappy 500L lounge removing roof switch console

Hi,
Does anyone know how to remove the centre roof console containing the cabin lights and the open/close blind switch.
I'm very reluctant to pull this too much for fear of breaking some clever hidden catches.
I'm doing this to get at the switched 12V supply so I can feed my dashcam (via a 5V regulator) without having a cable trailing around the windscreen and down to the cigarette lighter socket.

Probably a better solution is to run the cable inside the trim, along the window and under the moulding to the fuse box behind the glovebox.
From there it can piggyback onto the correct fuse.

That's what I've done and the cable is well hidden, the original wiring is undamaged and the dash cam is protected by the appropriate fuse.

Hi I think it wise not to try to remove it, ours has an opening sunroof and I was able to engage one end of it that the factory had mised from above. It was a long thin finger of plastic with a hole in it into which a plastic door trim type retainer fits. It would be possible to get a flat blade and release the trim plugs but the two rear ones look fragile.

Powellj3 Thanks for your reply, I did find your previous post about hardwiring after I posted last night.
I did manage to get the unit off the roof, much easier to see the fastenings on a bright, sunny morning today rather than the dull evening yesterday!
Might be handy for future ref if the bulbs need replacing in it.
Here is how I did it.....Force your fingers between the roof lining and the moulding at the back of the unit (furthest from the windscreen) you should just be able to see on each side a green press stud like post, I eased these posts out from the metal with a flat bladed screwdriver. The front edge of the moulding merely hooks on.
The whole unit has 3 plugs to release it completely.

Thanks Telegraph. The moulding is tougher than I first thought, I managed to remove it without breaking it although I'm not sure about my fingernails!
