I like a nice clean engine bay, is steam/pressure wash advisable with so much electrickery in there?

very strange,searched for steam clean threads and told no hits, as soon as i posted came back with a thread. Sorry guys/girls
 
Hopefully the answer you found was NO don't do it!

It's not worth the risk of water in the electrics. If you must clean it use a trigger spray packaged engine bay cleaner and rinse with a low pressure hose avoiding electrics with both.
Plastic covers can be removed and washed off the car, dish soap and a nylon brush work well.

Many thanks, as I suspected. A pile of rags and elbow grease will suffice.
