Hi, Has anyone had letters from Fiat re having Transmission/Gearbox checked for Dodgy washers?


Mine (1000 miles) has been in dealers for 6 days now after they found "Faulty" gearbox problems.


No replacement car provided by Fiat approved dealer or Fiat customer relations.

Out of interest what age was your car and did it make any noticeable noises before you took it to be checked?

Was it the manual transmission on the 1.4 you had?

Hi, Thanks for your interest. The 500L was new in late November 2016. Just 1000 miles on the clock. There were no problems or noises with the car. The call back notice spoke about the possible wrong Washers being fitted into the Manual gearbox and to take it to a Fiat dealer for inspection.


The inspection found that the gearbox was "Faulty" and a new one was ordered and fitted under the Fiat warranty

Thanks, yes I have a similar car, same age, slightly less miles as it was pre registered.

The gearbox sometimes makes a grinding noise, but operation is smooth and has no noticeable difference in operation. I'll have to get in booked in, maybe another with same problem or something different.
