Can't see spedo steering wheel in the way .I would like digital spedo I seen it on a 500l lounge model just spook to fiat main dealer he does not know if available on our pop star model can someone help we love the car but this is crazy when you can't the spedo . Mark from South Wales

Now funny enough I've recently owned two 14 plate 'LOUNGE' MPWs (see another post of mine if you want the full sob story of why!) The 1st definitely had digital speed indicator on the multi function display, but the one I have now doesn't. Could be a software update? I agree the speedo is somewhat obscured by the steering wheel -especially if you're fairly tall. By adjusting the rake and reach of the steering wheel it can be made better, but dies make the thing fell more 'bus like' to drive!

Roberto Giolito or whoever oversaw the design must have spotted this:confused:
Typical Fiat and it is amazing that it obscures the 30 mph mark : I wonder if it is a mitigating factor when being prosecuted for speeding :D
I have a '14 Lounge but have never seen or been able to get the digital speedo display and I wonder if it is a myth - how do you activate it ?

Hi I seen a 15plate 500L lounge in tesco car park spook to the owner he showed me digital speedo he said don't ask how to do it he can't even change the time on the clock lol.i will keep trying the dealers until I find someone who will help I will keep the forum updated.

It depends on the spec, have a nosey at the dealer and see what's what. Speedo units may not be interchangeable from one version to another however due to specs etc

Yes, it IS difficult to see the 30mph mark on the speedo, as I found with my 2014 Popstar MPW. By adjusting the seat height, plus tilt of the steering column, I've been able to reach a reasonable compromise where, even as a six-footer, I can still get a reasonable view of the complete speedo. As has been said, Fiat have engineered a built in design fault, but as owners, we've just gotta work around it! No idea if the digital speedo is an option on my car, probably not, but I can live with it.
Keith.

Pressing the trip button on the end of the wiper stalk switches between different displays but not all versions have the speedometer in the display

AHAA!!
With the ignition on, but engine not running, hit the SET button on the dash. Then you can navigate through the settings menu on the binnacle (NOT the 5" screen). one of the options is First Page. This lets you change what the 1st page is on this display.

By default it's date & time, but you can change it to show current speed either in MPH or KPH.

You'd have thought your dealerships would have known this - but my experience of FIAT dealership thus far has been abysmal so perhaps to be expected.

Just tried no luck on the menu I only got Reset Tyres, Passenger Airbag, Service, Buzzer Volume, Speed Beep, Dimmer but no First Page option. Thanks for trying to help I'll keep trying Fiat dealers might speak to someone who is interested lol

I found it annoying at first not being able to see the speedo fully but I have managed to set the steering wheel in a way that I can just about see all of it, I need to tilt my head ever so slightly if I want to see fully but I have just gotten used to that and now I don't think about it.

I will have to have a look at my system as I am not sure there has ever been an option to have MPH show up on the screen. I know that the previous models you could set that on the display but they were replaced. I guess it might depend what "15 Year" plate you saw.

I am sure I have gone through all the options with mine and found nothing to show a digital MPH

Not sure if this will show the correct manual for the year of the car but stick your reg here without spaces (mine shows the updated display, but again it might just be a general one these days)

At 6'4" I can't see the speedo unless I'm going over 100 mph. I had to go into settings to set mph and then by hitting the button on the wiper stalk got the speed to show digitally. Much better.

I guess it's alright if you have that as an option lol. Over the time I have had mine I have just got used to it now so I don't even think about what I'm doing to look at the speedo

Eureka, it worked on my trekking, thanks.

There is no "First page" option on mine

Can you really blame the Fiat dealership for something that may not be available on some versions or something an update would fix if there is one?

My experience with 2 Fiat dealers both said they would look into it and get back to me both have not bothered Obviously if they said it is not available that would be that and I will have to live with using my GPS as a speedo lol .

Just joined the Forum and this is the first thread I've looked at as it applies to me. I can's see the speedo either and I'm certainly not the tallest person in the world. I can sometimes get the digital speed on the central display, then the next day it's gone, comes back a couple of days later.and so on. I now drive with the sat nav on all the time as then I have some idea of speed. This brings up another problem. The sat nav speed is always 3-5 mph slower than the indicated speed, I've checked this on both the digital and analogue dial they both read the same, but the sat nav is always slower. i.e Speedo shows 70mph, sat nav 66mph

This is normal behaviour. The speedo always is calibrated to show a speed which is some % too high. This is not Fiat but industry specific. The sat nav speed should be 100 % correct.

Just had my first speeding ticket in 35years of driving £100 plus 3points I was doing 35mph in 30 limit thanks Fiat for blocking view of speedo. My local Fiat dealer says some models have digital speedo in middle of dash which is visible and some don't nothing they can do .Been on the phone again to Fiat this time they gave me a case number and said someone will call me next week I do not have much hope so just ordered a portable GPS Speedo £80 which i hope i to put somewhere permanent which looks ok.If Fiat can't help I'm going to contact Watchdog and Newspapers they might listen to them as you can see I'm pretty angry? If I get a solution I will let you all know.
