Searching online for different parts, I found this website that does parts for our little beauty - but I am having a hard time trusting it.

Does anyone know if the mirror part that is compatible with fiat 500 truly is compatible with the fiat 500L?

I believe they are very different by design.

500 and 500L mirrors are definitely different.

Is it completely destroyed ? There are mirror covers available from Fiat. Might be cheaper than a replacement mirror + paint.

Yes, the 500L and 500 mirrors are not the same.

I am 99% certain the 500L mirrors are the same as the current Panda.

The 500 on the other hand shares its mirrors with the Grande Punto/Punto Evo/current Punto.

As for a retailer, well you could try Shop4Parts here in the UK. They deliver abroad, obviously I am not sure of the shipping costs to Canada, but you could try. I just looked and they do have both right hand and left hand mirrors in stock for the 500L. My only concern is whether there is some special fitment for the US/Canadian model, but I guess you will have to find out.
