I have a 5 year old Fiat 500 0.9L which has just failed its MOT. It has only got about 15000 miles on the clock. The garage (proper Fiat garage) has given the following quote for repair which I think is a bit on the steep side - is it?

Steering & Susp: Excess play osf wishbone Play nsf wishbone £473.75

Front Brakes:Front brake discs heavily corroded and lipped Front pads 50% worn Advise pads and disc replaced. £368.23

Efficiency / Temp: Advise air con service £65.00

Other: Tailgate release button inop req new handle £129.91

Given that it has v low mileage, does the damage/work needed sound about right??? And are the prices fair? If it does and they are than happy to go ahead, but given that I don't think the car is worth more than 5K seems all a bit expensive to me.

Would be really grateful for views.

Thanks

M

On a 5 year old car I wouldn't take it to a main dealer for an MOT. Go to an independent and get it re MOT'd and if they find the same problems it will cost a lot less to fix.

Most decent MOT stations will look to find real problems that doesn't make the car roadworthy, a main stealer will be looking to make money.
