Anybody else having problems? I've worked out that 'change source to CD' has no effect but 'change source to disk' works. Are there any other commands in the menu that are wrong?

Do you specifically refer to voice control ? I have several issues with the system, like

- it takes very long (up to 10 minutes) for the system to recognize my phone over bluetooth, if BT is activated on the phone after the car is started.
- searching for music, e.g. display the songs sorted by musician, takes ages as well.
- only a few voice commands are recognized reliably, also many names from the phone book are not reliably recognized, so i do not use voice control.

Same here, the voice activation is next to useless, I gave up on it ages ago. I was sick of it dialling the wrong person or picking the wrong radio station and it was generally more distracting than just doing things manually.

Have had similar issues with the BT connection - often if the connection isn't recognised straight away you have to click on media, then bluetooth again - if this doesn't work turning off BT on your device and back on again seems to work.

It isn't the most friendly of systems, as this also doesn't work every time (usually when I have two BlueTooth connected phones in the car (which is obviously going to confuse the situation :)) - In this instance, I have found that if the wrong device is selected it is difficult to switch between the two, but going into 'settings' then bluetooth devices, click on 'paired phones' (important step), click on the phone you want, then click on connect device - this should then allow you to connect to the device.

I understand that this isn't simple - but this isn't completely Fiat's fault as Bluetooth connection is a tricky process and never 100% accurate for all devices....modern technology heh....ain't it great?!?!

And I completely agree, the voice recognition is awful, but I suppose they had to try...lol :)

Thanks for the comments. I was wondering if any other voice commands were incorrect, bearing in mind, " change source to CD" should be "change source to disk" and the command "change source to streaming" isn't listed but plays songs from my phone's Google play account (using my mobile data allowance).

I have only ever used the commands to make a phone call which was hit and miss, possibly the way I was asking but if I said "Dial Home" it would come up with the number 3 but "call Home" would work most of the time. Never tried anything else with it as there is no real call for me to do so. Will have a play around on a drive and see what happens

Hello all .. When I started my car yesterday, expecting my phone to link and the radio to come on, the radio display showed a phone set up menu which I could not exit, the phone was not connected and it was if the radio had been muted. No amount of button pressing or turning the ignition off and back on again would correct it. I switched my phone off as it was the only thing I hadn't touched, switched the ignition on and hey presto everything back to normal. Phone had to be re-paired to the car and it hasn't happened since.

Anyone got any ideas?

Why does no one ever post what phone they use when having
these kind of issues?

90% of the time it's the phone.

UConnect vioce recognition is rubbish. Which is sad as
Blue&Me was quite strong in that area. (But very out
of date in all other aspects.)

I'd advise:

Deleting paring info from phone.
Resetting UConnect
Updating phone firmware
Re-pairing the phone.

Hi, the phone is a Google Nexus 5 running the latest incarnation of Android. UConnect deleted the phone all by itself and it was only after turning the ignition on and off and finally switching the phone off and then back on again. Still, I've got it booked in with my dealer for a check up next week so I'll see what they've got to say... All the best ..

Going slightly off a bit here but I have noticed a few occasions where I have my music playing through the system via iPhone and it seems to stop and start whilst playing the songs, I also found this to be the case when we linked the daughters iPhone but when the wife put hers on it was fine. I have deleted and re-paired and it seemed to be fine but have not really had the chance to test this fully. Anyone else had similar?

Very very occasionally we get this too. Are all your phones running the same iOS version?

Yes they are all running latest version. Will give it a go tonight when I leave work and see if it is any better now I have re-paired it and post my feedback.

One big annoyance I have with u connect is that it doesn't switch off after you finish a call if the radio was off when you answered a call.

Blue and me in our 500 always went back to off when you finished a call u connect keeps the radio on and has to be switched off, unless somebody knows a way.

Well I still have the same issue after re-pairing phone. Am going to try and see if a overhaul of my music on the iPhone changes anything, needs a change as it has been the same songs on there for a good while and should be updated.

Well I have emptied my iPhone of all its music and put new on there and tried it earlier on the way into work which seemed fine for a short time and then it started to pause again but this was only for a short time and then it played fine. Will give it another go later when leaving to see if any different

Well I give up, it is still doing it and it does seem worse for some reason. Not sure if it does or why it would make a difference but I tend to have my phone in my trouser pocket (was always fine with this) but I am going to test a theory of having it out in a holder or in my shirt pocket to see if it does make a difference. Not sure what else to do, was thinking maybe the unit is faulty but then the other half has no issue with her music running same OS

No other devices in the car when tested this time around.

It does only seem to happen when my phone is in my trouser pocket, if I keep it out on my mount then the music is played without any issues.

It is almost like the phone has to be very near to the radio as we did try it with our daughters a while ago when she was sat in the back and that was just as bad as mine.

Will have to test this out a bit more and put the wifes phone in my pocket and see how that turns out. might be a day or so but will post once tested.

We've has the same problem with an iPhone and an iPod - was just about to say that we have discovered the same - trouser pockets not good and causing the music to stop and start - but bags and other pockets are fine with no more cutting off...
