Is there a certain amount of incline that should be for the hill holder to work? On steep hills works great but on lesser ones it does not and the car rolls back, so i have to apply the hand brake! Thank you

Yes there is - it is around anything greater than 5% I seem to recall from the manual. It works on our drive which must be just within this as an estimate.

Ah! So have to apply handbrake. Thank you

No it should work without needing to apply the handbrake also.

If you hold the vehicle on the foot brake while on a gradient and then move your foot from the brake pedal to the gas the 'hill holder' will keep the brake applied for a moment giving you time to put it in gear and press the gas pedal. Then as you set away it releases.

But the Hill Holder isn't a 'handbrake substitute' it is just to stop you rolling back and is only applied briefly. Nobody should really need to use it TBH if they are a half decent driver and have good clutch control.

Personally I don't use it much as I find it counter intuitive to how I was taught to drive and pull away on a gradient which does involve using the handbrake. Plus holding the vehicle on a foot brake is dazzling to the car behind especially at night so for that reason also its pretty redundant on my car.

For this reason I only use it during the day. Not sure if it is the same with all cars but I can hear a small clicky sound when the car stops and the HH kicks in.
