:(:(This afternoon my 500L was shunted and the driver had only past their driving test on Friday so not a great weekend for both of us.
Also I had spent all morning cleaning it so it was looking pristine ,especially the white alloys ,one of which is now damaged .Infact I was going to post my experience of cleaning with Wonderwheels Universal but that will have to wait as it is too painful to think about at this moment.
I think that I will contact Fiat Accident Aftercare to arrange the repair ,rather than the insurer ,unless anyone has any adverse experiences .
I will let you know how I get on

Hello everybody

Repair update :

After taking advice from someone in the insurance game ,I decided against Fiat Accident After Care and went direct to my insurer, who have approved the repair and so far their response has been favourable :
It is booked for this Thursday at a well known BMW/Mini dealer's body shop
so without wishing to tempt fate ,I am hoping that the standard should be high
Apparently it needs a new front bumper/spoiler, new wing and new front front wheel.
Wish me luck please

Regards

Wish you all the best, and hope your pride and joy is looked after.
After the hit and run issue i had ''WARRIOR V's LUIGI'' in the Fiorino section, it's a nail biting experience, luckily all was well and Luigi looks spot on again
LUIGI

I am so sorry for you. Elsie has been vandalised by local oiks scoring marks on to her bonnet (not that I give a monkeys, to be honest) and it is so annoying when it is entirely not your fault. In the end though, as is always with these things, it's us that ends up doing all the work to sort out the repairs.

I do hope it all gets sorted for you and the best of luck with the repairs and do post back with results. Perhaps a before and after picture?

In the meantime, could you give me the persons address so I can park Elsie out side their house and they can write her off for me! ;)

Tomorrow is the moment of truth as my car is ready for collection.
There has been a delay as the repairer found damage to the suspension which was not spotted until the body work was finished .This is a bit alarming although it is better that it has been picked up now and repaired under insurance rather than later on . I am praying that they do a good job with the colour matching etc

It will be strange driving the 500L because the courtesy car is a Mini Paceman Cooper 1.6 diesel , which is a bit different to say the least :)

Anyway I will find out tomorrow and will let you know-wish me luck!

A friend (who is a hotshot lawyer) had a similar experience with his BMW very recently, he feels the repairer must have known about the suspension damage, or was grossly incompetent, but chose not to disclose before having completed about €20k of work because the insurance company would have simply written it off (meaning no work) if they had.

Hello , the car is back and I have to say that Sytner have done a very good job indeed:) ,in fact it looks like new but (and there always seems to be a but in these situations ) the car is slightly pulling to one side:confused:Bearing in mind that some suspension work was needed I hope that it is only an alignment or tracking issue that can be easily sorted and not something more serious.Anyway it is back in on Tuesday to be looked at. Hopefully I will report back with complete satisfaction
