General Roof Bars

General Roof Bars

We bought that exact one-the lenght of the rail is 98cm.And the holes are on the side, not on the roof. Roof bars for Grande Punto can also be fitted

Thankyou both, I have seen the fixing holes but I have not seen my tape measure :(

Is that measurement from the middle of the one rail to the other?

I have an old halfords roofbox gathering dust and want to know if this will fit on before I barter with Vospers over the price of these.

Sorry,I missunderstood your question(english is not my native language).I measured just the length of the bar,not the distance between them :-( .(roof bars are dissasembled, and are in the box).If it's not too late for you,I can measure the distance between the holes tomorrow.

I guessed that when I found my tape and measured the holes :)

Mine measure 73cm approx. between holes.

If you don't mind measuring the distance between them it would be much appreciated, at least then I would know what the distance is from middle of one rail to the middle of the other (if that makes sense)

So-will it fit? We had that problem on previous car-Stilo and had to drill extra holes in roof box so it could be fitted on bars.We don't have that problem with 500l and we use the same box.

74.5 cm between the centre of both fixing points :)

I did say approx after my measurement ;)

Hopefully I will be able to work with this rather than have acikota go through the trouble of putting the rails on just to get the correct measurement for me.

I need to get the box down from where it is stored which is not the easiest of places to get to, just need to get the work place opened up over the weekend hopefully and get access to it.

Will keep thread updated when I have it :)

Bit the bullet yesterday and got them from Vospers in the end, managed to get a little bit of discount (£151 paid), now I just need to grow a few more feet to be able to get into the roof box properly, never really thought about how high it would actually turn out to be, but at least I can get all the camping gear in to the box now (y)

I have the same problem reaching and unscrewing the roof aerial for the car wash. I have an old caravan step which I use when at home..

I used to have this problem on Myrtle the Multipla. With Bella, my uglybug, I could open the front sunroof and lean out and over to unscrew the aerial. With Myrtle I had to stand on the front wheel to remove the aerial. This was after twanging the original one off in a car wash. Oops....

Don't forget the pitiful load and speed rating of the 500L bars / roof when putting your stuff up there. IIRC it is something like 55MPH / 50kg for the roof and that includes the weight of the box and bars. It's also really high up. There are some marketing photos of trekking with all sorts up there but that's a bit of a fantasy, if the roof had a proper rating ie 100kg and you could get a 150 PS engine then sure. Plus if you have the glass roof you'll spoil the view :) Consider a tow bar IMHO!?

It's a good point (but on a point of accuracy the max. roof load is actually 60kg)

I can't find any reference to a max. speed though... where have you got that from please.

Thanks.
