Technical Smoke from hood on my new 500L

this just happened to me. I was in a drive thru fast food place when it started smoking and then just shut off. I was able to restart it later and get it to the dealership, but they haven't looked at it yet. The smoke was massive and smelled like brakes or rubber. What was it in your cars?

Hello, this issue just happened to my wife, we have 2014 500L , with a dual clutch transmission, she was at Starbucks Drive Through, and the vehicle shut off on her and smoke was coming under the hood, she couldn't start the vehicle, someone helped her to push it, and she was with a 17m old baby in the car, Houston 85 Degrees, I came to check it, after 25 min the vehicle started, and I drove it to the dealership, before that I have checked oil and fluids, everything looks normal, I came in to the dealership and their answer by the service manager was immediate: it is a normal operation of the vehicle, the transmission is over heating and causing the vehicle to shut off in order to cool it down.

nothing been done, they didn't want to do nothing, and they keep claiming it is a normal operation, the vehicle never done it for 22,500 miles, and today it did this for the first time, we love the vehicle but it is ridiculous.

I have talked to costumer service and help, and they keep saying that this is a normal operation and nothing can or will be done.

I am looking into law suit as of now.

my direct email for questions or advices is [email protected]

please let me know if you guys have anything that can help me.

thank you.

thank you.

A law suit for a one off, my god no wonder why you Americans have a reputation.

For all you know your wife may have been at fault and had misplaced her foot on both pedals at the same time causing the clutch to overheat. A law suit will then make to both look incredibly silly if that turns out to be the case.

Now obviously you may well have a fault with the car, but you yourself have mentioned it's done over 22k without issue to date.......

Before you shot all your weapons perhaps you should look at some other possibilities first ;)

Ok buddy so first of all i am not american , second of all its an automatic, like i told the dealership i will tell you, i love the vehicle, i dont want to get out of it, i am not sure about you, but for me a year old vehicle with a 22k miles, shouldn't have a problem like that, obviously there is a problem, because they told me they are aware of it, and thsts why the 2015 modles have a regular transmission, so no i dont look to seu any one, only thing i want is to solve it whithn my 5 years or 50k miles, because after that i will be paying out of my pocket for something that was there pretty early after I bought it.

So il suggest you not to tell people how silly they are unless you know or ask all the facts, because now you look silly.

I very reasonable person and thats why i dont say i dont want the vehicle, i drive a 2005 grabd cherokee with 193k miles, a nornal operation of a vehicle do not include shutting off to cool down, that is called a diffect.

Thank you for your intrest in my problem, let me know if you have more auestions.
