Off Topic 500L TV advert

As I said on another thread, the first time I saw it I was deeply unimpressed. I felt better yesterday (I've been quite ill) and when I saw it again I liked it. The words are very clever and it isn't boring.

Kids don't do it for me - there are far too many of them for the world to carry and they seem to be everywhere clogging up the pavements and roads; the noise, the mess; no, they shouldn't be encouraged - so obviouslay I hate motherhood and apple pie, well I actually like apple pie - but mostly I hate seeing cars bracketed into consumer stereotypes, but this ad seems to grow - so very good!

What a strange advert, I lost interest very quickly!

Are Fiat saying that only owners of irritating, snot-inducing, vomitting kids will buy?

Just seen one 'live' at Fiat in Keswick, Cumbria. Initial reaction is it is bulbous and overweight - a bit like the 'fat' Mini.

Can't see it being popular unless you have irritating, snot-inducing, vomitting kids!

Don't watch a lot of TV ads but this one seems quite catchy and a little unusual - whether it'll sell an abortion like the 500L is another matter - more like a washing machine advert.

It's actually quite funny and very clever, not sure it's really aimed at anyone other than 30+ year old middle class, yummy mummies which is probably hence the confusion. All in all its not really aimed at you

I don't believe there is any intention for this to be shown on TV (certainly not in its entirety) so don't be surprised if you don't like it. I think it's quite a clever attempt to target a very specific niche via social media - namely middle and upper income young parents with children, who dream of having a 500 but who can't get their sprogs in the back.

This target audience is still culturally savvy (they'll probably have grown up with an awareness of hip hop, rap, etc) but crucially they are perfect social media users, being young enough to interact extensively with Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, Twitter etc etc etc etc. They'll see this video, empathise with the humour and share it to all their yummy mummy friends who are in a similar situation (home alone, mopping up vomit and checking Facebook). I think it's going to work.

If they were upper income they'd have staff to clear up the vomit ;)

I just enjoy it for the clever wordplay, the car is secondary, but yes, it will be seen by a lot of people and it'll be a good teaser.
