I'm still discovering more features on my daughters 2008 500 1.4 Sport.

When driving with headlamps on in daylight, the dashboard illumination (ie what makes the needles glow) goes on and off. It has never gone out when driving in low light or dark conditions; does the dashboard illumination have a light sensor and if so, where is it?
I have also noted the RH side of the heater panel has intermittent lighting fault, but I don't recall this coinciding with the dashboard.

Hi,

There is a light sensor on the instrument binnacle, just above the speedo, roughly at the 60mph mark which governs the dashboard illumination. Can't help you with the heater panel though - lighting should be even.

I noticed our left side heater panel was out last week, one bump and it's stayed on since.

Cheers! That's what I had hoped but didn't think to look there for a sensor.
I was pretty sure the heater lighting fault is unconnected, just thought I'd mention it in case it gave a clue.
