Door mirrors in the car wash

Should I fold in the door mirrors when I bring my 500 to the car wash? I heard the mirrors may fall off if I don't fold them in. Is that true?

P.S. Up to now I hand washed my 500, but that's not really my hobby. Therefore I consider bringing it to a car wash.

Re: Door mirrors in the car wash

You're only worried about whether the mirrors might come off?

I'd be more worried about the doors and front wings being ripped off

This has made me remember, that quite a few years ago, that beast of a car, the Renault Fuego, if owners took them through a car wash, the back window would be sucked clean out and left smashed all over the car wash floor

Agreed, don't use a roll over car wash. Go for a jet wash if you must.

From personal experience (of door mirrors, not car washes - I won't use the things) I'd be worried about them falling off if you do fold them in.

Have a read of this thread.

I tend to agree, since these mirrors don't feel solid at all. However, I went to a car wash to take a look and then I saw these signs instructing customers to fold in the door mirrors.

Besides, your thread was one of the reasons asking this question.

Here in the neighbourhood there is a quite expensive roll over car wash that is visited by lots of Porsches, BMWs and other exclusive cars that I can only dream of. If this car wash would do a lousy job or ruin cars, then it wouldn't exist anymore as a result of lawsuits, I suppose.
