How to install aux in lead in Fiat 500

Hi fellow Fiat owners! I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me.

I've searched on this forum for some information about how to install an aux in lead on a Fiat 500, but I haven't found the answer that I'm looking for - some of the posts are about models with Blue&Me, and others are concerned with the routing of the cable - which is useful, but doesn't answer what I wanted to know.

So here it is: I have a Fiat 500 2010 reg, with the standard radio fitted - no Blue&Me. I bought a kit on eBay with the radio removal keys and an aux in lead with a jack plug on the end. What I want to know is:

- Where do I plug it in on the back?

- How do I select the aux in source when it's installed?

I had a go at installing it, but there seem to be three different places it can plug in. I tried them all, but maybe I wasn't doing the right thing to select the source.

Can anyone help, please?!

I've attached some photos, so you can see the kit I bought, the radio model, and the sockets at the back.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome that looks similar to my 59 plate rear panel, the plug goes(I think I remember ) to the right side on the rear of the large empty port(leaving some pins unused) it should click in easily, then press "CD" twice to switch to aux in, it should work, but it maybe the far left of the open port, note the aux in(volume level input) is adjustable within the menu(not the volume control)

I'm gonna jump in here - mine's a 2010, Bosch radio just like yours, and nothing at all happened when that cable was plugged in. Apparently the Blaupunkt ones are the ones that take it, and the radio that was put into these Fiats changed to Bosch radios at some point in 2010 (source for that info is somewhere on this forum). Definitely try it though, you might be lucky. I actually wanted my aux in so much I purchased a different radio and put that in instead.

I think John2020 is right on where the cable connects however. To choose that setting (if it works) just hit the CD button a few times and hopefully AUX will show up on the display.

Have to say ours is a Blaupunkt but looking at the pin out, it looks the same can't quite see on the pic, here's the rear of our Blaupunkt looks like there maybe Pre out and line/aux in along with phone mute, remote switching, Canbus.

Hi, thank you for all your replies and help.

So, yesterday, I took out the radio, plugged the lead in on the right hand side (with a satisfying click), plugged in my phone and pressed play, and pressed the CD button twice - and...

... nothing happened! I just got the 'no source' message.

So it sounds like maybe the firmware in the Bosch radio doesn't pick up the aux connection. So, others beware if you're thinking of adding one of these leads.

If anyone has found a way round it, then please post it here. I'm thinking I might replace the radio completely with a DAB radio, Bluetooth, etc. If I do, I'll let you know how I get on!

I did think it was probably a firmware change as the radios appear identical phsically. I changed the radio, wasn't too a horrendous job, radio from Halfrauds, fascia from there too. If music is what you want you could get one of those little FM Transmitter gizmos or similar?

Out of interest what do the two (one on the left, between the 3 bottom left, and one right under the B of booster) "switch(ing)" pins do? See pin out pics (both)
