Hi fellow Fiat owners! I'm new to this forum, so please bear with me.

I've searched on this forum for some information about how to install an aux in lead on a Fiat 500, but I haven't found the answer that I'm looking for - some of the posts are about models with Blue&Me, and others are concerned with the routing of the cable - which is useful, but doesn't answer what I wanted to know.

So here it is: I have a Fiat 500 2010 reg, with the standard radio fitted - no Blue&Me. I bought a kit on eBay with the radio removal keys and an aux in lead with a jack plug on the end. What I want to know is:

- Where do I plug it in on the back?

- How do I select the aux in source when it's installed?

I had a go at installing it, but there seem to be three different places it can plug in. I tried them all, but maybe I wasn't doing the right thing to select the source.

Can anyone help, please?!

I've attached some photos, so you can see the kit I bought, the radio model, and the sockets at the back.

Thanks in advance!

Hi and welcome that looks similar to my 59 plate rear panel, the plug goes(I think I remember ) to the right side on the rear of the large empty port(leaving some pins unused) it should click in easily, then press "CD" twice to switch to aux in, it should work, but it maybe the far left of the open port, note the aux in(volume level input) is adjustable within the menu(not the volume control)

I'm gonna jump in here - mine's a 2010, Bosch radio just like yours, and nothing at all happened when that cable was plugged in. Apparently the Blaupunkt ones are the ones that take it, and the radio that was put into these Fiats changed to Bosch radios at some point in 2010 (source for that info is somewhere on this forum). Definitely try it though, you might be lucky. I actually wanted my aux in so much I purchased a different radio and put that in instead.

I think John2020 is right on where the cable connects however. To choose that setting (if it works) just hit the CD button a few times and hopefully AUX will show up on the display.

Have to say ours is a Blaupunkt but looking at the pin out, it looks the same can't quite see on the pic, here's the rear of our Blaupunkt looks like there maybe Pre out and line/aux in along with phone mute, remote switching, Canbus.

Hi, thank you for all your replies and help.

So, yesterday, I took out the radio, plugged the lead in on the right hand side (with a satisfying click), plugged in my phone and pressed play, and pressed the CD button twice - and...

... nothing happened! I just got the 'no source' message.

So it sounds like maybe the firmware in the Bosch radio doesn't pick up the aux connection. So, others beware if you're thinking of adding one of these leads.

If anyone has found a way round it, then please post it here. I'm thinking I might replace the radio completely with a DAB radio, Bluetooth, etc. If I do, I'll let you know how I get on!

I did think it was probably a firmware change as the radios appear identical phsically. I changed the radio, wasn't too a horrendous job, radio from Halfrauds, fascia from there too. If music is what you want you could get one of those little FM Transmitter gizmos or similar?

So has anyone successfully managed to connect an aux in to the Bosch model? It’s what I have but no joy so far...

I’m looking the fit the same Bluetooth kit to my daughter 09 500C Pop. It’s the Blaupunkt Radio with hopefully the ability to fit. My issue is, there appears to be a large black ‘plug’ already attached with 3 wires attached (green, black and grey) in the ‘booster’ area. How do I insert the yellow plug into to bottom left area of the radio aux port? Do I have to remove the black plug, cut a bit off and then re-insert, leaving those ports clear for the new yellow plug?

What happens if you pull out the bottom plug? Does everything still work
It does look like the plug could be modified, Does the car have anything bar the stock radio, no sub say
No this is a totally 'stock' setup. Nothing fancy. It looks like the left part of that black block could possibly be snipped off allowing room for the yellow one that comes with the bluetooth adaptor kit I'm looking at to be inserted. Just wondering if anybody on here has had to do anything like this. Basically I just need to get bluetooth working in my daughters car, for music and ideally phone (Blue & Me is a bit flakey) without breaking the bank.

From what I've since read up on, this block with the 3 wires is the Blue and Me block. Yes, I think I can remove it and install an after market bluetooth streaming kit that would give me music and phone. From what my daughter tells me, the B&M isn't that useful anyway. Perhaps I'll end up blowing out B&M in favour of the 3rd party kit. Who'd have thought this could be so stressful and complicated. Makes you realise how good the new cars are for connectability.

For the best result, simply replace the head unit with a "proper" aftermarket one that's far better with everything you need probably as cheap as the Bluetooth kit ?

Ohh, this sounds so similar to the issue I have described in the blue&me forum (I can't post links yet).

It really is frustrating for me because I can actually hear the music of my phone through the car speakers when I press the "windows" wheel button. But it only lasts a few seconds (or minutes) before the radio switch back to the previous source. Arrrgh

Nobody has a solution for this?

Hi all

Sorry to resurrect an old thread but I wanted to share this with anyone who still needs a solution. We have the Bosch head unit, no Blue&Me :

We bought this cable from eBay :

It connects to these pins:

And when we press CD we get the AUX input which those Blaupunkt types are all enjoying.

Played music direct from the headphone socket of my phone, and will be adding a Bluetooth receiver when it arrives later in the week. Hope it helps someone.

Which Bluetooth receiver did you get and does it sound good?

Grrrr

You realise this now means I’m going to have to take my radio out again
We have. 2012 pop 500c, pressing the cd button twice didn’t do anything.
There are three leads with different connectors hanging out the base of the dashboard which were left there by a previous owner
