I recently posted "rubbing noise" on my 2010 fist 500 1.2 purchased 15months ago (many thanks for the helpful comments) The discs are badly corroded possibly due to the non use of the vehicle in previous owners hands.
I therefore went on line to see what disc and pads were available and was previously advised to fit Pagid. However they offer two types of disc and pads for my model one more expensive than the other as other makes appear to do. Any one advise me of the difference and is it worth paying for the more expensive ones ? Most online companies are doing good deals on these at the moment so if the more expensive ones are better would purchase them.
Many thanks

I've just looked on one of the factor's websites and indeed there are two different Pagid disc & pad options.

The difference is the type; the more expensive one is ventilated, the cheaper one is solid.

Needless to say, you need to buy the one that fits your car, as the thickness is completely different; IIRC all 1.2 500's sold in the UK are fitted with solid discs. Good news, as they're the cheaper ones.

BTW, I can confirm the Pagid parts work well in the 500; they fit with no issues and the discs have a protective metallic coating from the factory which means you don't need to degrease them before fitting. Great value at ECP this weekend - £46.86 all in. Nice new brakes for under £50. Makes the local Fiat dealer look very expensive!

A few years ago I got Brembo replacement discs and pads for my old 1.2 at a very reasonable price from Amazon of all places. Lasted at least twice as long as the original ones they replaced.

isn't 257mm the 1.4's discs? or does the 1.2 have the same size and just not vented?

From memory, I think that the rear discs on the 1.4 are the same size as the discs on the 1.2 but the front ones are larger, so 257 mm fronts, 240 mm rears. Sometimes wish my 1.4 had drums at the rear; those rear calipers are so prone to sticking and grinding on the discs.
