Hi, :)
is this a Modern 4 cylinder 500..??

the basics should be on here I'll try and provide some links.. (y)

 the North American 500 is not identical to the Euro spec ones.. but it'll be a start,

1400cc Panda - probably same motor - https://www.fiatforum.com/panda/444654-replace-alternator-panda-100hp.html

useful basic info;https://www.fiatforum.com/500-guides/420525-replacing-water-pump-timing-belt-1-2l-engine.html

worth considering :- the alternator probably has a "brush-pack" that should be demountable..

it's sometimes possible to replace worn-out brushes with the alternator still in the enginebay..
could save work if full removal involves engine mounts.etc.

Try searching for a new one from suppliers and look at the picture for mounting bolts?
It may need new discs too depending on how wet your winters are.

It looks like alternator but still need bracket will keep looking Thanks

"Almost" always there's 1 long through bolt and the tensioner bolt, occasionally there is two bolts plus the tensioner bolt, but not often nowadays.
Totally remove both bolts and give it a leaver see if it moves as though you were slackening off the tension on the belt?

Got pix of bracket. Looks like In got all bolts but obviously didn't Gotta do something else now be back ltr Cliff

Looks like I have to remove AC compressor to get at bolt. Any ideas on this? Cliff

I would post in the tech talk section.

We have a few FIAT dealer level people on here who should have done this..if only in a training centre.

Charlie
Thanks Charlie I have done that. Beginning to wonder if anyboby has done this & lived to tell about it Cliff

Finally figured it out. Do not remove bracket. Reach waaay down & behind to take out top bolt -gotta feel , then take off bottom 2. Took off tie rod strut, axle nut, pulled axle out enough & to one side to let alternator drop. Can't get new one in. Looks like may have to remove axle. Any suggestions? Axle is firmly seated in tranny. Thanks

Well done so far...

Just a suggestion..

Can you place a trolley jack under the engines SUMP PAN.

Take weight.

Then remove/unbolt the timing side engine mount support..

Should allow a decent degree of engine / trans movement. Both up.down and fore.aft
