hello all
I have a fiat 500 pop dualogic, 2013 but has no air co on.:bang:
does anyone know how much will cost me to install it? is it possible? is it worth it?

As stated, adding air con to a car after its left the factory is phenomenally expensive and complicated.

Would be better looking for another care with aircon than considering trying to get it fitted.

As a DIY job you need a very high level of know how it's not for the faint hearted or a novice.

It's all been said already. Theoretically possible, but prohibitively expensive.

I can't even begin to guess what a franchised dealer would charge for this, but it would not surprise me if it were more than the price of a new 500. Certainly it would be many times more than you'd spend trading yours in for an equivalent model with A/C.

My advice is just to forget about it.

I'm surprised car manufacturers even get away with selling cars without AirCon these days!!!

In GR they don't even bother; no new car for sale does not have aircon, which includes the Fiat 500 Pop, the VW Up basic, and Asian tin cars such as Hyundais.

Well, I've got air-con in the car ,but in 8 years it's never been used. In this country I'd just rather open a window... Cheaper too, of course the experts say not , but someone will say " It's stuffy in here "and open a window anyway , so it's pointless having it on.

i think at speeds over 50mph its 'cheaper' to have AC on than opening a window = )

Yours will now probably not work. Needs to be used all year round, its brilliant in a wet winter for clearing the screen.

We have a Clio we bought brand new in 2001.
The aircon has never been off, or serviced, but works perfectly.

Aircon, and I've said this endlessly, is brilliant. The air is chilled and then heated and then given out to you clean and dry at any temperature you want it to be from as cold as it can get, to as hot as it can get.

Our 500TA has automatic climate control, and that too is left in auto and wil remain in auto for as long as we own the car.

I too cannot understand why cars are sold without it.
Mick.

Anyone who still states that air con is pointless, still does not know the benefits of a working system.

Increased fuel economy? Negligible now due to far more efficient compressors. Back in 1980, the compressor on a Lotus elite we had in the family, was huge and when turned on, you could physically feel it dramatically engage and sap power. These days,it's almost seemless and a car performs no different with it engaged to when it's not.

Opening a window? Really? When the penny has finally dropped as to how air quality is dire due to diesels being in abundance?

In damp conditions, you really want to endanger others by having misted up windows?

As stated, Use it or lose it is the name of the game with AC. lack of use will kill the system.

As to the original question? I avoided all POPs due to this very point. Sell it and buy a lounge. Plus you get so much more in a lounge over and above AC for little or no more money if sourced sensibly.

In the city my aircon is always set to recirc! Don't want to breathe in those diesel fumes!
