I bought a OBDII SCANNER it's an Autel MaxiScan MS309 and it doesn't read the codes on 2013 Fiat 500
It will clear codes but it does not read them
Could someone recommend a OBDll scanner that reads the fiat codes
I was thinking an ELM 327 wifi with an iPhone or iPad or Android

Hi,
The interface is the easy part, you need decent software. About the best for Fiat group vehicles is Multiecuscan www.multiecuscan.net The main progrm runs on a PC, but just about any old laptop running windows XP SP32 or higher will work. There is a cut down version for tablets but not iOS. AlfaOBD is also worth a look. Get a USB (wired) interface rather han wireless. You also need an adaptor lead set for some modules on most cars. This eBay set works well http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/162485447915
I don't know of any Fiat specific software that runs on iOS.

It's too bad the scanner does not work and its a single
handheld unit with connector
Are you saying get a plug scanner with a USB cable and put it into a PC the only problem is the laptop and PC I have I just switched to Ubuntu (Linux) I was tired of Windows Vista crashing all the time!
But I do have an old android phone maybe I can get connected with that

Hi,
It depends what you want to do. AlfaOBD has a cut down Android version that will run an a phone and Bluetooth ELM327 which is probably the best android app for Fiats. If you want full function you need Multiecuscan on a PC. Most people dedicate an old windows XP laptop to it. My last on was a old sony that cost nothing, I got it on freecycle. Some people run it on netbooks or windows emulators under other OS's but I have no experience of that.
