Hi I have just bought a 2008 fiat sport second hand, the manual locking works perfectly however the central remote locking doesn't, no lights flash or anything.
I have changed the battery correctly still no joy,
I will check the fuse then if that's ok is there any way of re programming it myself? Is there a sequence I can try as t may just have unlinked? I'm new to this so excuse me lol
It's the first nice car I have owned it was a previous Cat C however has been repaired and the accident happened in 2008 from the first owner not the previous owner who I bought it off, she had the car for 2 years and no probs it has paper work to show it has been repaired, and has a years MoT no advisories the only thing that comes up on the screen is "fuel cut off unavailable" will look at this as well
Any advise on the central locking would be greatly appreciated :)

What does work on the rear hatch lid? There's a well know issue with the wires going into the lid this is where its most likely failed and causing a short blowing the fuse (if it's blown that is) if not blown it'll require further investigation.

As a first step I'd suggest getting the key fob transmitter tested to see if it's outputting a signal. I understand some locksmiths may be able to do this for you. If there's nothing, you've probably got your culprit right there - if it does work you know the fault's on the car side.

If you lock the drivers door(manually) does the passenger door lock too?
When unlocked, does the boot lid(handle) work, under the silver trim?
Does the remote unlock just the boot?

If the passenger door locks when the key is used then the "locking" is working correctly and would strongly point to the remote, if so I would take it to pieces fully, and check the contacts for the battery whilst in bits replace the battery with a known good one and try(may have to hold the battery in place) look for signs of water damage too?

I replaced a remote battery a long time ago on a different model. Read up in handbook then sourced battery before opened key to swap it. Still dead. I then took a very big guess and put the key in ignition and started the car. This then "synched" the new battery and the remote to the car again and it worked instantly.
