When three local dealerships told me that you cannot retro fit Front Fog Lights to our 2012 Lounge and have them work as per the factory fitment I thought hmmmm, can't retro fit a safety device I bet I can.

On our Lounge, behind the UK passenger side fog light blanking moulding was a part of the loom with a plug on it the same as the plug on the fog lamp itself, you can also see if its there by removing the inner arch plug, the rectangular bit that can be removed for inspection and access behind the front bumper.

What wasn't present is the wiring jumper loom that goes across the front bumper to link the two fog lights, The part number for this is 51798092 and cost £28.01 plus VAT when I bought one in 2015, it even comes with the clips to fix it to the bumper.

I bought a set of pattern fog lights off amazon and the fog light mouldings.
The mouldings were £6.95 each plus P&P, the fog lights themselves were about £60.00 with the bulbs, we actually changed the switch but I doubt you actually need to, we did it for aesthetics just to have the front fog light icon on the switch. All in all its cost about £150.00 to have them working.

You will need Multiecuscan to enable, I was nervous doing the proxy alignment, waiting for the various ecu success messages but when it was done, ignition off as it tells you, waited, ignition on, lights on. one press of the fog light switch and the front fogs came on, didn't even have to fit any fuses or relays, second press and the front and rear fogs were on. third press and all fog light off......happy days. I actually fitted the fogs lights etc all in 2015.

I doubt that the loom that was present on ours will be there on all the other variations but it is easy enough to look.

So if the dealer tells you no it can't then chances are it possibly can. Sorry for the long post. Off to give it a good clean.

I've just taken the passenger side one out, this is the yellow connector you are looking for. If it's present then it should be just hanging there.

The jumper loom part is what fixes it in place to the bodywork behind the bumper.

It is the same connector as the one of the fog light itself.

The jumper loom is item 16 in the link

https://www.fiatpartswebstore.com/s...ake=1200&ukey_model=19431&ukey_category=24818

but the part number in the link wasn't recognised by our local dealer.

Really interesting post this. my daughters 08 lounge does not have the fog lights and I would like to fit them.

Is it not the can system that does the switching, its the same switch so no other wires, just reprogramming to operate the other relay?
Oh right, that's easy enough then. I'm working on the car on Thursday changing the front panel and radiator so I will compare the plug with the picture. If it is the same, then I might as well fit some. Interesting post.

Talking of the radiator does it sit at a angle the gap on mine is out maybe 30mm one side front to rear?

We did change our switch but only to have the front fog icon. Before the Front Fogs were enabled, the switch WITH the front fog icon only switched the rear fogs on.

I don't think for one minute that there is anything different between our new switch and the old one apart from the symbols on them.

Looking at all the receipts the actual fog lights were £19.95 each from Amazon. Europarts do them and there always a 30% off code with them, the mouldings were £6.95 each from Amazon plus P&P and the section of loom was £28.01 plus VAT from Fiat.

I already had the software and cables just not the nerve to do it. What bumped up the price was the switch plus I applied for the electronic keycode which cost me £24.00.

If the wiring is present on the passenger side I reckon you could do this for less than £100 if you shop around for the parts.

As for their effectiveness, I cant answer that one. All I know is that for the next MOT I won't have to refit the original blanking mouldings to cover the non working fog lights.

Can't find them that cheap on Amazon. Cheapest I can find is about £28 each

No, shouldn't do. It may have a broken mount or possibly just bent. I'm going to take some videos and pics when I do the front panel, so will post them.
It's not a great picture but you can see its off looking down(fan removed), all seems fine and tight so will leave alone.

I couldn't film as my next door neighbour is having an extension built and the builders were cutting with an angle grinder so it was too noisy.

That gap may mean that your radiator mounts have shifted or the radiator itself is warped. Weird! I would leave well alone.

There is the possibility that that bottom rail of your front panel is bent of course.

My car came with the rear fog and switch. I have DIY the dual switch, the front fog lights fitted, together with the loom that goes from light to light in the front bumper. But I cannot find any loose connector close to the horn to connect to. Could anyone tell from where does the connector for fog lights branch out on the loom? Maybe that will help me confirm if my car is pre wired or not. Mine is a UK 2014 1.2L 500 Sport.

It should be passenger side dangling down behind the horn
It has a distinctive yellow & green connector.. it may have been tied up out the way somewhere or of course it’s possible it was never put in
