Can't see that this topic has been discussed for a 500 yet.
Been working on my wife's 09 reg 500 Lounge trying to change the drivers side door check strap.
Replacement arrived so had a go at what I thought might be a fairly simple job!
Got the door card off no problem. Ideal way in would be to remove the speaker however this had been riveted in place so instead put my arm through the opening in the centre of the door and reached across to the unit inside the door. No problem.
Removed the two retaining nuts on the outside of the door skin to loosen the unit and that's as far as I got!
I spent more than an hour trying to manoeuvre the unit inside the door past the window guide, with the arm in all 3 positions. Couldn't do it! :bang:
Anyone else tried? Can it be removed without taking out the window guide?

I have taken one off when I changed a door but I can't for the life of me remember how I did it. Can't remember if I took it out after I took the glass and window mechanism out. I may well have done as I stripped the door down before giving it to a scrap man.
