General April Fool?

This was posted yesterday so a bit early for an April fool, also as stated in the article Aston did the same with the Toyota IQ washing machine and rebadged it as a cygnet sold only to people who had bought a DB9 to bring down the CO2 emissions of the whole brand. I don't know however if this overly applies to Maserati as they are part of the bigger FCA group the emissions of fiat Alfa etc all get considered together.

It's the group CO2 emissions which lead to La Ferrari but of course Ferrari is no longer in the fiat stable.

There is enough about this story for it to be true but also is comes across as being more of a rumour than fact or an April fool.

Ironically the Cygnet being so rare now, you can buy a used DB9 for the £30k price tag of a used cygnet.
As you can buy a new ghibli for £50k they would struggle to charge that for a 500.

I rather liked the IQ...

I'll get me coat...

If it would be priced like a similar Abarth (which is already overpriced enough imo) and not exclusively sold to people who own a recent other Maserati, it might actually sell.
However if the price is ridiculous, it'll be the same more money than sense thing AM did with the Toy iQ and I'm sure even Maserati owners would just get the Abarth or the hot Mito instead.

Hideous! The Abarth looks so much better. I don't think it's that badly priced - with a starting price just over £15k it's over a grand less than the less powerful Mini Cooper starting point, and in my view is a lot better looking than the now bloated Mini.

Having a low starting price doesn't paint the entire picture...
Just like I've spent 50% over the starting price on my Doblo without going crazy at all, a well equipped Abarth that actually has the power to match the badge costs quite a bit more than the starting price, let alone one with all bells and whistles!
