So not the Twinair then....

D

I love the twinair, but the S spec has dropped the climate control so it felt like I'd be paying more for less, if you get what I mean.

I wasn't paying enough on the last pcp, so I'm making that up and paying the right amount this time. It's going to cost more, so I thought I may as well upgrade a little.

I do love how so many people in the UK consider three years to be the life expectancy of a new car.

Meanwhile, the combined age of my cars is 133 years:slayer:

It just takes most of the hassle away :) I had a Fiesta from new and got burnt with that with loads of things going wrong in year 4. That was when I got the 1st 500 twinair and it really was 3 years hassle free and the pcp payments were the same as the monthly maintenance costs I had budgeted when I had older cars, so it was a bit of a no brainer as the 500 fitted my needs.

Also, as a 1 car family, I like the reassurance that all things being equal, a newer car should be more reliable. I'm not saying that an older car won't be if maintained, but we know how it goes...

Anyway, thanks for all the input guys, it has really helped, and nothing in this post is meant to offend or upset, so hopefully it doesn't. until later...
cheers
Matt

I don't see it to be honest. According to Fiat, a new Twinair Lounge on PCP is a £1000 down and then £200 a month for 48 months with a maximum of 6000miles per year! A quick check on Fiat's website, shows a 1 year old Twinair Lounge with 900miles can be had for £10000. Flip over to nationwide.co.uk and a £10000 loan at 3.4% is £222 for 48months and you get to keep the car at the end and do unlimited miles!!
If your looking for a 1.2 and are prepared to go to 18months or 2years old with less than 10000miles on the clock you can get a great deal. There around half the price of new (2 year old or less Red 1.2 Lounge with 9700miles £6695) and you still have a 1 year warranty.
How can spending £10600 on Fiat finance, driving the car a maximum of 24000miles and then giving it back be a good worth while deal or am I missing something!?

It isn't. It's just that some people are obsessed with getting a new car!

Yes, well, rust is an issue here. The amount of salt chucked on the roads during winter just causes no end of issues. Plus, if you do live by the seaside, especially where I originally come from, winters with salt spray directly from the sea can be a huge issue.

I got underneath a 08 Panda at work the other morning. I was absolutely shocked at what I saw. The rear suspension was just truly utterly shocking and yet the bodywork looked amazing.......
Speaking about rust my exhaust is starting to rust. It's still not bad but won't bother changing it until it completely messes up.

I'm not going to justify the logic of purchasing new cars over used but would say that the current Fiat deals aren't all that attractive due to higher APR and lower residuals. If you dial back 12 months to when I took my twinair on a PCP deal, take account of the circa £3k dealer discount and the 0.5%APR on offer at that time then the picture looks a little different. If I choose to hand the car back at the end of the term, my outlay has been £120 per month. If I choose to pay the balloon payment and keep the car, I'm within £100 of the same total outlay as the Nationwide bank loan for the year old car you give in your example but enjoyed 3 years warranty and got the car I specified rather than something close to what I wanted.
