Hi,
I hope i'm not covering old ground on this one, apologies just in case. I have a 2011 twin air 500. I know that stop start can be an issue but my car has a habit of stopping and then the engine restarts in about 8 - 10 seconds without me putting my foot on the clutch. Anyone else have this issue?

This is a common and well understood issue.

Just replace the battery.

Personally, if the battery is starting the car each and every time you go out to it, I'd just disable the Stop/Start period. Yup, I realise that will upset the environmentalists out there but to be honest in my experience, the Fiat 500 Stop/Start system is without doubt, the worst I've experienced on any car I've driven that has Stop/Start fitted as standard. I currently drive around 300 passenger vehicles a week of just about every make on the UK's roads, so I've got a little bit of experience here. Funny thing, the last car I drove on Friday, was a 1.2 500 with both door handles broken off, but that's an entirely different thread.......:p

You might want to have a look through this thread. In any case, you must buy a specific stop/start battery if you intend forking out for a new one:

I had this issue a few weeks back too. I've been turning my stop/start off most times now and the odd time I do use it, it works fine. Maybe just wasn't charging properly with the constant stop/start

If you think about it, normally you might start the car 4-6 times in a day, SS car you're possibly looking at 40/50 in a day, any wonder the battery on this "generally a town car" gets discharged?

I won't use mine again very often anyway. Didn't even think about it until it stopped working. Grand feature if you're driving far, but me driving 2 miles to work and 2 miles home each day isn't beneficial to use SS.
