Technical 500c roof only goes as far as the spoiler.

Thought not. I reckon all the initialization procedure does is establish the maximum rearward travel and then it applies a pre-set programme for roof operation.

In your case the roof may be jammed at the spoiler so the controller has assumed that that is the limit. Suggests maybe a mechanical problem with the two arms that fold the window and move the spoiler down.

Yes that's what I'm thinking. The fact that even manually winding it comes up against a point where it not budge.

I think I will have to watch that video again. Hopefully I can work out how to get to that mechanism without taking the whole thing off.

I can only wish you the best with it. I'll be interested in following your progress though. I've already learned a good deal about the roof's operation from this discussion. If there's anything I can check for you on my roof (short of dismantling it!!) please ask.
 
Thanks. Haven't started on this car yet as previous one will be out of the paint shop in a day or two and will need a good clean before it goes up for sale.

I think I'm going to try taking the trim off inside and see if I can get to that mechanism. Got a feeling I may have to end up taking it somewhere.
 
Be aware that the roof adhesive has been banned by eu and you might struggle to get any.
