Hello, I'm new here and I'm excited to be picking up a new 500 at the weekend.

I have heard of a few instances of the 500 being stolen, even just for a joy ride as it's so easy to over ride vehicle electronics these days if you know what you're doing.

So, I want a decent physical lock on the steering wheel, that also acts as a visible deterrent.

I heard good things and was looking at the Stoplock Pro from Halfords and wondered if anyone here had used one with a 500?

Mine has the flat bottom steering wheel being an S version.

Many thanks for any help/suggestions.

Personally, I wouldn't bother with one of those. A few years ago, I had one. I put it on the wheel of a Volvo 440 I owned at the time, unfortunately I lost the key somewhere whilst I was out shopping. I ended up smashing it off at the side of the road with a lump hammer. It came off far too easy!

If you're actually really serious about giving someone a hard time taking the car, better off getting one of these instead:

I do however advise putting a protective cover over the wheel before fitting, especially if the wheel is leather bound. You can use an old pillowcase, just cut it in half to shorten it down, or buy one of these:

We've owned a disklok now for several years and we've never experienced a single problem with it.

Disk lock flying around in the car in a crash,, not good!...........

Wow! You've got me completely stumped by that comment lol! Why would you have a disklok anywhere in the passenger area of the car whilst out on the road?
They're supposed to go in the boot when not in use. Velcro is stitched to the cover the Diskloc goes in when not in use, it usually sticks nicely to the carpet in the boot.

Expensive but have a look at a ghost immobilizer, still not sure why something like that isn’t standard on a rangey

Or "carlock" . Just got one. It's great. Obd port job . Detects vibration .. alerts u when engine starts . Tracks the car. Etc.

Because something like that they would probably kick your door in and out. Aknife to your throat for you to unlock it
There is that too, but I believe you can set up a valet mode which is top speed 15mph.

It’s just a shame people exist that has to steal things from people and make people who’ve worked for something worry it’ll be taken from them.

It’s also a shame that if its tracked and the police find it abandoned, the police seem to recover it there and then, rather than wait for the thieves to come back and get them red handed 😩
