Hi guys,

I own a Fiat 500 Lounge (2010 model). I'm having issues with the USB port (it's the one with the Windows logo on it) as when i stick in a USB stick it does not play any music.
Do i need to purchase a Blue&Me Fiat adaptor in order to play music directly from the USB stick? or should it still play music without this adaptor?

I'm very confused!

Thank you for replying!
I had had the car checked at a garage and the guy servicing kept insisting that it only plays music through an iPhone/iPod/other cell phones connected through Blue&Me.

I shall check once again :)

Well that service guy knows fark hall about Blue&Me then.

Try disconnecting your battery for ten minutes, when I had this problem it sorted it out.

As someone said above, make sure the memory stick is FAT32 formatted. NTFS formatted doesn't work (in mine anyway)

If in doubt, (for Windows) plug it into your laptop/PC and transfer your music off of it onto your laptop drive for safe keeping. Then right click on the memory stick drive in explorer and select format and there you will get a dropdown entitled 'File system' - make sure that says FAT32 and tick quick format then start. It will warn you that you are wiping the stick completely. That will take only a few seconds. Then drag your music back onto the memory stick and try that in your Fiat.

I also read somewhere that 8GB was the max size memory stick that the Blue and Me system would accept but someone else may be able to verify that.

Some memory sticks can have issues with being formatted directly from windows; especially if they've fallen victim to a virus and the partition structure has been damaged.

The easiest way to recover them is to use the Hewlett Packard USB Key Formatting tool. You can download it here.

I'm total technophobe and I've not had issue. I bought a slim usb memory stick for £4.99 from well known catalogue shop. All my music is on Windows Media Player and it just transferred easily like when burning onto a blank CD-R. The slot for the usb can be unclipped and replaced for around £30 for the part I think. There is a lead under the usb slot I believe which provides the power and makes the head unit recognise it when you press Media on my Panda anyway. Maybe that's loose.

I've always used a 16GB stick in mine with no problems.

The format on the pendrive is correct (FAT32), even the data files are .mp3 type but problem still holds that when I plug in the USB Memory Stick into the USB Slot, no music plays.

Just to make sure, music can be played by:
connecting a mobile phone through Blue&Me via the usb-cable
Or directly when inserting the USB STICK in the usb slot.. no?

Hi, i know this was ages ago, did you figure out how to fix it as I have just bought my first car which is the same as yours and I am having the exact same problem?

I have a 2009 Lounge, and I tried using a USB stick as a media source - but I got sick of it very very quickly, because, unless someone can tell me otherwise, you can't 'reorder' the music, or otherwise get the car to 'remember' where it got to in the 'playlist'.

So - you hear the same songs, in the same order, EVERY time you start the car.

I seriously hope I'm missing something?

Hi Caitling; Welcome to the forum.

When you insert a properly formatted (FAT32) USB stick with MP3 files on it press the 'CD' button on the left of the radio and you should see 'CD', 'AUX' and then 'Blue&Me Media Player' on the screen. If it doesn't show up then the USB socket may be faulty. If it does appear, press the telephone key on your steering wheel and use the up/down keys to find 'Media Player' (on your speedo centre display) and press the telephone key to enter. Then select 'USB Options' and cycle through 'Folders', 'Albums', 'Genres' etc to make a selection (or even 'Play Anything' and the tracks will be selected randomly). Go back to 'Media Player' and choose 'Set USB' to select 'Autoplay', 'Shuffle' or 'Track Loop'. Autoplay should begin where it left off last time and it should play through a folder or album and then repeat until you select another folder/album.

In 'Folder' view all tracks in each directory are in alphabetical order while in 'Album' view they'll be in original track order.

All this is from memory so I may have missed something. I'll bring the user manual in from the car in the morning in case you have any more questions.

Hi.

I use a 16GB Sandisk Cruzer Blade. I tried a 32GB but the Blue & Me shat itself.

Happy with 16GB all day long.

Hope this helps.

I've got a memory stick in my 500C and it works OK, but as you say, it's a clumsy set-out to select the music. In my other car have an aftermarket head unit with a USB slot, and with that I can easily switch to 'next track', or 'next album' easily. With the Fiat, I generally end up pulling over to the side of the road to cycle through the options to change to the next album!
