Styling Fitting the chrome a bar and bonnet strip!

Hi!

Glad to be back in a 500 again :)

Just wondered how easy is it to fit the above? Could I do it or is it better to ask a dealer to do it..... .?

Thanks Suzi x

Hi Suzi,

It's really easy. Make sure the area is clean and free from grease or wax by using white spirit first. Only remove the end bits off the sticky paper and leave the ends on so you can pull the paper on the other side, this way you can position it first and if need be move it. Once it's where it needs to be pull the rest of adhesive paper covering away using the first bits of paper you pulled.

I'm a lady like you and did the a bar and bonnet strip by myself.

I'm not sure about non genuine a bars but the fiat ones instruct you to bond it on with silicone but they never bonded on properly so we used to remove the bumper and screw them on from behind.

As stated above, the bonnet spear is really easy to fit. The trick is to get it exactly positioned before you start to remove the tape. Find the centre-line by measuring from several points (use a dressmaking tape measure) and use masking tape to mark it out.

I found about half an inch of the nose of the spear lifted slightly a few days later and no amount of clamping would convince it to stay put, so I put a little black silicone under it to stop water getting under the tape. it's been there three years now...
