Hi All, me again with ANOTHER wee issue.

Driving home this morning (at 60mph, not sure if speed matters at all when it comes to this), I used my screenwash and found that the left side only 'scooshed' out into a wee puddle instead of squirting up the screen. This has happened before and I cleared holes with an earring and all worked well. Tried this again this morning but found that a wee small plastic cylinder shape was pushed out. I pushed this back in, tried screen wash again and this time it shot out and over the windscreen!! Fiddled about again and decided to clear the other nozzle while at it, this caused the working side to come out into a puddle at bottom of screen (these checks were while car was parked). I needed to get to work so drove off and parked in car park and decided to check again. Fiddled a few times again, inside of drivers side got soaked from constantly using washer and still couldn't get them right!!

They're either too high, too low...

Is there an easy way to adjust them? I see the wee plastic cylinder that came out has a wee line marked on it, not sure if this is for adjusting?

Have my MOT on Monday and don't want this to be a fail because of something so small.

The slot is for adjusting the nozzle but apparently they can loosen over time. There's a guide to fixing this at;
https://www.fiatforum.com/500-guides/317578-washer-jet-repair.html

Haven't had a problem myself but I only rarely use them and they never get frozen here, which seems to have a bearing on the problem.

Good luck!

Thank you. I'll try and get these adjusted tonight, failing that could it be easier purchasing new ones?

How far up the windscreen should they aim when stationary? Worried I'm driving home at 60mph and it's not far enough to clear

To be honest, if I was having such trouble, I'd buy new ones. Come to think of it I'd probably have to - I fitted the chrome caps on mine and there's no access to the nozzle adjustment.

After having Fiats for 8 years I got so used to windscreen nozzle only reaching half way up the screen, and only if under 30mph (otherwise it just pools at the bottom) that I'm ruined for other normal cars! While in his car (Volvo) my husband asked me why I was slowing down every time I needed to use the washer...:) It sprays to high heaven!!!

These nozzles are notorious for popping out in winter weather if there is insufficient screenwash additive to prevent the water from freezing. Once popped out, they don't usually pop back in, and either need to be replaced, or held in place with a dab of adhesive.

Always make sure that the screenwash has sufficient frost protection in cold weather as the pipes themselves have also been known to spilt, leading to rear washer failure and water leaks inside the car.

After thinking issues fixed this issue a fortnight ago, the same things happened today and I cannot, for love nor money, get the wee black bit to stay in. It's popping out every time I use the scoosh now! Fiat don't seem to have a clue. At a loss as to what to do to keep it in until I can get it fixed properly. S

Have got a pack of 2 from a Autoparts place for £10. My papas having to collect for me as I'm at work the same hours they're open and they said they're easy to replace yourself when I asked if someone. Plus.

Have looked online but struggling to find a video on how to change them. Will give it a bash myself tonight hopefully.

They just pull out, biggest issue will be the length of pipe could be very short.

Thank you. So just pull from the nozzle and it should come right off? Nothing underneath to remove? Thanks

Perfect. I thought I'd have to remove the black plastic to get to them. Is that easy enough to do anyway?

It's easy enough to get off (you'll also need to remove the wipers; mark where they go on the screen with some masking tape before taking them off); getting it back on is where it starts going wrong for most folks. The fasteners are of the plastic single-use type; if you try to reuse them, that panel will be loose and will wobble all over the place thereafter. One solution is to use ordinary nuts, bolts & washers instead of the proprietary fasteners; I replaced mine with some black coated ones I happened to have lying around.

I've said it before, but this is one car where you need to keep a decent concentration of a good quality screenwash in the system if there is any chance of the temperature falling below freezing. Doesn't happen that often in Bournemouth, fortunately.

Crap I don't even know how to remove window wipers. If I'm likely to make matters worse maybe I should pay a garage.

I use Tesco -5 which isn't great here. It was -1 at 7am this morning when it happened so middle of the night temps would've caused it

Hi, have tried to pull it out but it's totally stuck? Struggling to get it to budge at all..

If you have to remove the trim, only remove the 3 "screw" fixings at the front, small hands can then get up inside.
Whilst the fixings look one piece they're not take a look at my picture/text in this other guide;
https://www.fiatforum.com/500-guides/440891-front-shock-absorber-replacement.html

Do I need to do the windscreen wiper part for that still? It looks so confusing. Looking at my spare part, there's wee clips that I'd need to push in before being able to remove them?
