General Wipers

The wipers on our 2016 lounge are pretty poor - they miss on the left and bottom of the screen. I've tried doing a bit of judicious bending of the blades but to no avail. Anyone else?
Yes absolutely, there are many threads on this. Basically you need to bin the useless Fiat stock wipers and get yourself some Bosch Aerotwins = )
Either case, the coverage of the Fiat 500 wipers will never be perfect due to its design.

Whilst on wipers the design of the rear one is rubbish as it's totally "flat" against the screen robbing the spring of most of the pressure it's supposed to exert to hold the rubber in contact even a new arm and blade results in "poor" wiping results and I increased the spring tension (not easy to bend) the arm needs to sit further away from the glass to increase the pressure but ont worked out how to manage it.

Until I read this thread, I wasn't aware that there's a problem.
Our wipers are fine. (y)

As far as I'm aware, they are the ones brand new. The car had only done 13,000 miles when we bought her, and I've not done anything to the wipers at all.

Yes, as far as I'm concerned, they are fine. No complaints whatsoever - front or rear.

I do have one complaint though, the intermittent wipe isn't variable.

Regards to all,
Mick.

I put Bosch Aero on the front and standard Bosch on the rear, next time you use the rear one see how well it removes the water compared to the fronts, then you'll see the poor performance?

Basically after 1.5 years of the stock wipers, they were juddering like crazy and I had to replace them. I have had the Bosch Aerotwins for 4 years without changing them and they are still fine! Massive difference!

I read the car manual, and it said to replace windscreen wipers yearly! With the awful Fiat ones, no wonder!

Yes, you're basically right, but it doesn't matter because it isn't "poor performance".

Every single car I've ever driven with rear wipers, the rear isn't as good as the front but they were all more than adequate for their task ........... just like ours on the 500TA.

Our front ones don't judder or squeak. They work very very well indeed, and I have no idea what people are complaining about, because ours are great.

Perhaps we're lucky. (y)

Thanks,
Mick.

Yesterday, I noticed that one of the wiper rubbers on the front ........ the long one .......... was peeling away a bit at the outer end.

The car has done 25,900miles from new, and this is the very first wiper problem.

When we last had a thread about wipers on here, I bookmarked a page:
http://www.wiperblades.co.uk/accessories/refill-28/#search
One pair of 28" rubber blades will do a complete Fiat500, so I've ordered a pair.
Actually, I ordered two pairs.

Coming 2nd Class Royal Mail, so should be with me by middle of next week.

Stand by for a progress report. :)

Regards,
Mick.

Lets hope you don't have the "standard" Aero flat type, as the text on your link specifically states they are not compatible ?

These are what I bought; http://www.carparts4less.co.uk/cp4l...b44c0458985cc04f3359cd99c19b80ca52df09&000604

£23 if using discount code "BEMINE" (time limited)

From what I've looked at, the rubbers are at least as "normal" as I've had almost forever on every car I've ever owned.

If the they don't fit, either I'll make them fit, or I'll use them eventually somewhere, and anyway, they will fit on our Clio.

Cheap enough anyway, and I only bought two pairs because the postage was nearly as much as the cost of one of them.

Mick.

Aero's and "traditional " wipers look vastly different in terms of blade design and overall make up, let's us know how you get on?

!

Just taken the O/S long wiper off, and removed one end and extracted the rubber.
Comparing it to a "normal" rubber, they are identical.

These photos are of the arm and extracted rubber, plus a short length of standard rubber to compare.

Hope this helps!
Mick.

So they're just charging more for the "look" what a rip.
