I've just bought my first 500 and want to pull out the basic fitted radio but am unable to find out how, either from Fiat or the internet. The same question was posted by 'omegad' last summer but the replies I believe covered the pre 2015 radio and not the latest version. Can anyone help?

Thanks for reply - I think I've attached a photo?

Oh wow that is significantly different, wasn't expecting that! I'll have a look around and see if there's anything elsewhere that might help.

Hopefully it's not some ridiculous dash removal type of job.

Are you looking to swap it for another radio?

They may have gone the way of many other car manufacturers and it is no longer removable/replaceable

The likes of mini have made changing the radio almost impossible for a long time and many new cars have controls for the radio mounted separately to the display screen, and they link into the rest of the cars systems displaying car information on the radio screen and displaying radio information on the binacal display.

It looks more more 'removable' than most but might not be replaceable

I've now managed to remove the chrome bezel, not easy, and as you can see from attached photos there is a small slot half way down each side of the radio that looks as though it might take a release key - but which one?

Thanks for various thoughts so far.

Not a lot of help I know, but I had my faulty radio (the same as yours) replaced by the dealer last week and they took the old one out and fitted the new one in around half an hour so it's not a difficult job if you know how to do it! Good luck.

Just to add, as suggested above, the radio links to the menu function on the speedo - without the radio fitted the functions don't work and you'll get the 'date' constantly flashing at you but won't be able to change it.

I have a 500X with a radio that is much the same. I have seen somewhere on UTube a video showing how comes out. If I remember correctly the trim has to come off then that gives access to the screws that hold it in. The video was posted by a company selling upgrade radio/satnav units. Hope that helps.

The trim removed is part of the center console in the 500x whereas in the 500 it forms the large part of the top of the dash "slot in type fixing"?

Problem now solved thanks to a very helpful Fiat service receptionist in Berkshire. I don't want to give her exact location as I'm not sure she should have told me!
The process requires removing the glove box via 6 retaining screws - prise off the heater controls panel - prise off the painted dashboard panel - remove 4 screws holding radio chrome bezel surround and face level heating vents - 4 screws will then be seen that retain the radio in place. Easy - once you know how!
Thanks again for the various replies.

Just wondering what you're replacing the original with?
