Hi there,

this is my first post in this forum.

For an electronic project i bought myself a second cluster of an 500 Sport. So with Shift Indicator in the EVIC...

For this project i want to reuse this cluster as a piece of a desk (clock etc...and some funky things ;))

My questions are:
What protocol is FIAT using for the 500 gauges: Is it B-Can 11bit/50kbaut like in a Panda?
The most important Question: How is the pinning of the connector on the backside of the cluster?

So there are 14 pins and i only found VCC+, GND and IGN+, PushButton-Signal...

But which pins are for Can-H and Can-L?
Is the Cluster maybe getting the messages over LIN?

Also interessting to me: Is it only able to communicate with the cluster over the body controller (BCM) or can i receive and send CAN-messages directly between my laptop (including Can-Interface (CanCard)) and the cluster?

Thx in advance.

Steve

Hello and welcome .

That's an interesting project.

You might also try posting a similar question on the multiecuscan forum; the guys working on that project must be familiar with the protocols used.

thx for the hint.

Meanwhile i found out that the 500 is also using 50kbaut @ CAN-B.

Unclear is, what the end to end termination is. In fact the common CAN in other Cars are using 120Ohms at the end but how much in a 500?
Caused by my currently damaged CanCase :( i need to connect the cluster to my Ardunino CANBus Shield which might have a 62Ohm resistor placed between H and L.

Are there members who successfully connect a Fiat Cluster only to an arduino?

Thx again :)
