I collected my new Lounge last Wednesday and the radio was working fine until Saturday, when it started acting strangely. Firstly there was a delay in it coming on after the ignition was turned on, but then worked OK. After parking for a while it wouldn't work at all (blank screen) then after a high pitched 'knocking' sound it worked OK. Later it wouldn't work at all and is showing the message "System updating.... Do not remove UBS device. Approx. timing 30 minutes". No UBS device has been used and 3 days later the message is still there and none of the radio controls seem to be working.

Before I take it back to the dealer I just wondered if anyone else has had the same problem and might know of a fix?

Cheers,
Lou

I wouldn't suggest trying any fixes, just take it back.

Will do. Just wondered if it was a 'known' problem and there was an easy way to 'reset' the radio. Don't intend to try fixing it myself otherwise, so will see what the dealer suggests.

Firstly, take it back to the dealer. It's their problem; let them sort it.

Having said that, it could be the result of a failed Blue&Me update.

What year is the car? Have you got anything plugged into the USB port?

The Blue&Me hardware was changed during the production run; earlier cars can't be updated past a certain version.

Someone may have tried to update the software with a later version which is not compatible with your car. It would not surprise me if it's possible to brick the Blue&Me unit by doing this.

Could try disconnecting the battery for 10 minutes, might save a trip to the dealer.

If you do this, make sure there is nothing plugged into the USB port before you start.

It's brand new, so 2016 build with the Uconnect system, and I haven't used the USB port since I collected it. Called the dealer today and will be taking it in on Friday so that they can take a look. Hopefully an easy fix but will post back with an update.

In that case, disregard what I said about the Blue&Me update limitations on the pre-2011 cars.

Hopefully all will be sorted quickly for you.

It definitely requires a software update, I was doing quite a few of these just before I left the dealer in July

Well the update is that the dealer couldn't do the update! It has a fault so will need a new radio unit, and they have no idea when this will be delivered I was also advised that it is subject to a recall notice (gearbox), which will be sorted at the same time as the new radio is fitted. Is it unreasonable to think that these issues should have been identified prior to me picking the car up 10 days ago?

It should have been picked up on a pre-delivery inspection, but it's likely they wanted you to take delivery of it so they can add to their sales figures. Happened to us once (not a fiat), wasn't happy when i found out why we got it with problems

Radio, Tell them to remove one from a new car(in the show room) there and fit that one, no need to wait, when the new one arrives then all they need do is fit to the 'new' car, its simply not good enough to say "no idea" when it will arrive, or ask for free servicing for the next 2 years, IN WRITING?
